Surprisingly, his latest book was on a "best of 2018" list I saw recently.

None of the regular Longmire series characters made more than a token appearance in this book and his new Mexican characters were identified more by their ethnicity/eccentricity/disabilities than actual characterization.

I started reading The surgeon by Tess Gerritsen out of curiosity, then I read the Apprentice and I think I'll soon read the whole series because I'm hooked ! Love it more than the tv show.

Izza, I have never seen the TV series, but I am hooked on the books!
Elizabethan history and mystery is such good, page-turning fun in A Famine of Horses, the first in a series by P.F. Chisholm. Looking forward to some more buckling of swashes!

Dead Wrong
by J.A. JanceIn this 12th book in the 'Sheriff Joanna Brady' series, the law enforcement officer has to deal with two big cases while she's nine months pregnant. The novel can be read as a standalone, but familiarity with the characters and story arc is a plus. Good mystery. 3 stars

Finished audiobook of Murder on the Orient Express but need to read the very end as I kept missing it. Guess I shouldn't be listening at work while trying to have a conversation. :) After this, I will read the new James Burke book that came out today and then Cross your heart. Still need to start Pillars of the Earth.That is all.

Oh, that is a shame. It's the ending of Murder in the Orient Express that gives the book its power and meaning.
Ghost Busting Mystery by Daisy Pettles is corny humour and a quick, light "detective" story.

I gave them both 4 stars. I loved the way Sister is written and The 7,5 Deaths of Evelyn Harcastle felt like a Agatha Christie combined with Groundhog Day. Good!
Wedding Cake Murder
by Joanne FlukeIn this addition to the popular series, Hannah Swensen - baker/amateur sleuth - is getting married......but not until a murder is solved. The book includes plenty of recipes, mostly for cookies. The story has more eating than sleuthing, but's it's entertaining. 3 stars
