You make good points Gretchen.

When a neuroscientist and her team (sort of inadvertently) develop time travel, there are unintended consequences. Good speculative science fiction with interesting characters. 3.5 stars

Still need to finish the last of this audiobook. It’s such a hard thing to read. But I already started looking into contributing to Israel.

It's been said that if we don't learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. I count myself among those who need a refresher from time to time on past mistakes, collectively, and also those times when society has stepped up to the plate and selflessly aided those in need.

Excellent comments, Gretchen. I read Night last month. It had a profound affect on me as well.

Loved the first book and only recently started the second, The Dark Vineyard.

I love Lord Peter Wimsey. He's a good example of a golden age detective (and for his time he was pretty progressive). LOL 🙂💙🌼

Bruno's a man of many talents in addition to his detective skills. 🌼🙂🌺

I've read the entire series, but that was eons ago. I love Lord Peter. And Bunter too.

I'll be close behind you in reading Bruno #2.

He is that --quite a romantic, really.

I absolutely do, but it was the way it was, and I can't change that.

I didn't remember that either. As you say, that's the way it was.
Still, it's off-putting. 🤕

Where are the editors? A character is called one name until chapter 50. She is then called a new name. At first, I thought this was a way for a main character to realize that she wasn’t who she said she was. But, no. For the next few chapters, she is called both names. This book made it this far and no one noticed.

Cringeworthy. Absolutely cringeworthy. I sort of do a little shudder every time.

which is a thriller that grabs you right at the first sentence and doesn't let go. I can't wait to finish it and find out who the bad guy is really.

When 12 bodies are found concealed in the walls of a building that's being renovated, Lt. Eve Dallas investigates. Good premise but with a lot of extraneous chit chat. 2.5 stars

very engaging and at times quite brutal

Me too. 😎

I have previously read "Toros and Torsos" by McDonald and enjoyed it very much, so I was really looking forward to this one. It's really not a mystery at all, but sort of a disjointed novel. But, far worse, at heart it's a contemptible book-length character assassination of Mary Hemingway, Ernest Hemingway's widow. McDonald scorns Hemingway's other 3 wives as well, but trashing Mary is the heart of the book. She is accused of literary theft, all sorts of lying and dishonesty, and murder. Awful.

It is one of my favorite series, Deb.

Thanks for your insights. I'll skip right past this one.

Thanks for mentioning this one -- an introduction to an author I've never read. I'm looking forward to some light-hearted crime.

Defense attorney Andy Carpenter takes a client accused of murdering a documentary filmmaker. This series is always fun, with plenty of dogs and a diverse cast of entertaining characters. 3 stars
