Combination of mystery thriller and science fiction. Female NCIS agent investigates murders. Time travel adds an extra dimension. This explanation is painfully inadequate. You have never read another book like this. Fabulous story, absolutely original. 5 stars.

I am not much of a sci-fi fan, but you've certainly piqued my interest with your take on this one. I've added it to my TBR list -- thank you.

I am starting State of Wonder by Ann Patchett, another new author for me. I am trying to expand my reading. I believe this is a stand alone novel.

David Lutkins I'm just starting The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, which seems to be near or at the top of all the "Best Of..." lists for Agatha Christie. I saw the David Suchet episode of this mystery, and am looking forward to comparing it to the real thing.

I've only read a couple of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe mysteries so far but they were all enjoyable. Excellent review.

Aditya | 2017 comments Finished Dark Sacred Night by Michael Connelly. Conneely has been coasting on his reputation for far too long. He has been shit for some time now, I will continue to read Bosch but done with Ballard. I go into a bit more detail in my review as to how he has regressed over the years. Rating - 2/5

Gretchen | 0 comments Finished Shadow man. Debut novel by Cody McFadyen.

This book was rather graphic from a violence/murder perspective so if you are squeamish, you may want to avoid. I liked the writing and not a bad first novel. Lots of main character introspection to the point of YAWN. But on the other hand, made for good character development. I figured out the bad guy about 1/2 through. I gave it 4 stars because I can't give 3.5. The author does have good potential. This is the first book (2006) in a series. I haven't decided if I will go on to others. Annoyance: One of her characters called EVERYONE "honey-love". after 2 times, it was beyond annoying. :)

Araych | 678 comments Dead Center Dead Center (Andy Carpenter #5) by David Rosenfelt by David Rosenfelt

Andy Carpenter #5, can be read as a stand-alone. Carpenter is a smart-mouth defense attorney who, of course, ends up finding the real guilty party. The wrap-up of this one felt a bit hurried but other wise it's another good entry in the series.

Patty | 4469 comments I’m currently reading How Awful About Harry by Henry Farrell; he also wrote Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, another of his books I’ve read.

I saw the movie—How Awful About Harry—on YouTube, and saw it was based on a novel written by the same guy who wrote Baby Jane. I’ve been reading novels that have been made into movies: Bunny Lake is Missing; Night of the Hunter; Bedelia; On, Voyager; etc.
