Araych | 677 comments The Deserter The Deserter by Nelson DeMille by Nelson DeMille & Alex DeMille

I'm normally a fan of Demille's smart-mouth heroes and their adventures but I thought this one dragged a bit. 530 pages, about 100 too many.

Thomas (tom471) | 2006 comments Never Forget: A Victor Lessard Thriller
I rated it 3.5 rounded down to 3 stars, primarily because of a far fetched JFK conspiracy connection.

Araych | 677 comments New Tricks New Tricks (Andy Carpenter #7) by David Rosenfelt by David Rosenfelt

Andy Carpenter #7, OK to read as stand-alone. Light, fun read about an irreverent New Jersey lawyer defending a fellow dog-lover accused of murder. Recommended for dog-loving mystery buffs.

Spook Country follows three groups of characters whose story threads merge as the narrative unfolds. The action moves from various parts of the United States to Canada as the protagonists pursue their mysterious agendas.

Good suspense novel. 3.5 stars

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I finished:

Arthur & George by Julian Barnes
Arthur & George by Julian Barnes
Rating: 4 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Although it's not really a mystery/crime book it does concern a true life series of events (see: Great Wyrley Outrages at Wikipedia) that lead to an innocent man's conviction and the involvement of Arthur Conan Doyle to clean the man's name. Highly recommended.

Aditya | 2017 comments Finished The Best American Noir of the Century. Inconsistent and a bad introduction to the genre for a newbie but genre fans might check it out for the few flashes of brilliance from writers like Dennis Lehane and James Lee Burke. As no one had so far reviewed the individual stories, I did it and frankly I will mainly remember this for the longest review I have ever written on GR :) Rating - 3/5

Araych | 677 comments The Noel Coward Murder Case The Noel Coward Murder Case (Jacob Singer, #6) by George Baxt by George Baxt

New York City, 1935, Noel Coward is in town to sing at a new nightclub opening and gets caught up in a murder mystery. Very cute, very light, nothing to be taken seriously. But fun if you're in the mood.

I'm always on the lookout for a new series. Thanks for mentioning A.E. Fielding. My TBR list just got longer. : )

message 2600: by Deb (new)

Deb Jones (feisty56) | 99 comments The older books intrigue me just as much as the new ones do -- maybe more so because they have stood the test of time. To that end, I recently read:

The Crime at Black Dudley The Crime at Black Dudley (Albert Campion Mystery #1) by Margery Allingham , the first in Margery Allingham's Albert Campion series and

The Pusher The Pusher (87th Precinct, #3) by Ed McBain by Ed McBain, the third offering in his 87th Precinct series.
