In this 5th book in the 'Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mysteries', bookstore owner/amateur sleuth Gemma Doyle travels to London, where she gets involved in a murder investigation. The book can be read as a standalone.
Entertaining cozy with many references to the Sherlock Holmes canon. 3 stars

Finished A Rising Man by Abir Mukherjee. A rare award winning crime series set in my city - Kolkata, India. Loved it, great debut really nails the setting of British era Kolkata. Recommended to all. Rating - 4/5

Wonderful, unique mystery featuring a newly-promoted detective working a possible murder case 6 months before the world literally ends. So it's a sci-fi mystery, which is not my usual thing but this is such an engrossing pleasure to read that I can't wait to read the other 2 in this trilogy. 5 stars.

Ah. That makes sense.

After I read this book, I read the remaining two. I really liked the first one. The 2nd two were good but not at the level of the first.

Finished Dancing Bear by James Crumley. Bleak and funny in equal measures, Crumley was such an underrated writer, excellent noir. One of the best I have read all year. Rating - 5/5

New York, present day. Vampyres and zombies are real. Our hero, Joe Pitt, vampyre tough guy, is hired to find and return a runaway girl. OK, fine, except instead of using quotes to indicate dialogue Huston uses dashes. This didn't work for me when I was writing in junior high and it doesn't work here. Otherwise the book is OK.

In this 35th book in the 'Alex Delaware' series, the psychologist helps his friend, Lieutenant Milo Sturgis, investigate an odd set of murders. The book can be read as a standalone.
Entertaining mystery. 3.5 stars

Once again, I'm sort of in between books, which is okay because I'm doing a serious deep clean in my house at the moment. I am probably going to read a book called Ashenden and one called The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne.

Oh, I'm so sorry, Christine. When I say I'm in between books, it means that I haven't started one yet. I've been very busy, but I'll be sure to let you know once I start my next book!!
Enjoy your Christmas books!
