MK Adler (monikask) | 6 comments Just finished Suicide Forest - I have it a good rating, it was okay. I finished it.

I am going to try to read “Where the Crawdids Sing” I heard it a slow build... not really my style. Over talk bores the piss out of me.

I've seen a few documentaries about that place (the Suicide Forest) -- it's sad and creepy at the same time.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments Dear Mr. M Dear Mr. M by Herman Koch by Herman Koch

In this novel, Mr. M is an author who co-opted a true incident (the scandalous disappearance of a teacher) and wrote a book about it. Now, forty years later, Mr. M's action - writing about real people - seems to be having consequences. Good book.
3.5 stars

J.P. Choquette (jpchoquette) So many good-looking books posted here! I'm currently reading, "The Dry," by Jane Harper. I read her book, "Force of Nature," and loved it, not realizing it was the second in a series. So, I'm backtracking and reading this one now. It's very good--excellent writing and I'm speeding my way through.

I recently read Games People Play (Charlie Cameron #1) by Owen Mullen by this author and loved it ! It was a very good discovery for me.

It's been a few weeks since I came here, in between I read :
The Angel of Darkness (Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, #2) by Caleb Carr and loved it - 4 stars
The Guy Who Died Twice (Detective D.D. Warren, #9.5) by Lisa Gardner - 4 stars, quick read
Then I got hooked on the Rizzoli & Isles book series, so I read :
The Surgeon (Rizzoli & Isles, #1) by Tess Gerritsen
The Apprentice (Rizzoli & Isles, #2) by Tess Gerritsen
The Sinner (Rizzoli & Isles, #3) by Tess Gerritsen
Body Double (Rizzoli & Isles, #4) by Tess Gerritsen
Vanish (Rizzoli & Isles, #5) by Tess Gerritsen
and I'm currently reading The Mephisto Club (Rizzoli & Isles, #6) by Tess Gerritsen
I love that series, it's addictive and different from the tv show, but honestly, Maura and men... ! I'm not sure I really like her. Fortunately, there's Jane.

From the excerpt it seems like this book has overtones to the movie “Passengers”, which I liked. Even though the two are not related. I’ll add it to read soon.

I am such a hopeless romantic can’t you tell...

Just finished the latest book by Andrea Camilleri, The Overnight Kidnapper. Not too impressed, to tell you the truth. Then again it's like #24 in the series so I'm not surprised. As I've said many a time, series writers really ought to learn when to call it quits, and although I love these books as a whole, it's pretty obvious that time should have been called on this series some time ago.
