Finsihed After the First Death by Lawrence Block. Short, fast paced gritty mystery. One of Block's early works but still worth checking out for fans of the genre or the author. Rating - 4/5

When Oswald de Lacy becomes the Lord of Summerhill Manor at the age of 18, one of his first tasks is to catch a murderer who's targeting young girls. Interesting medieval setting.

PattyMacDotComma | 922 comments Laid In Earth is my favourite Czech detective Josef Slonský investigation so far. Number 6 in the series harks back to the Communist regime and evidence of their interrogations in Prague. English author Graham Brack has created an appealing cast of characters.

Midwinter Mysteries: A Christmas Crime Anthology is a collection of short, entertaining mysteries with only the season in common. Dates range from 1665 to today. I always love Graham Brack's Prague police stories, and his is the first.

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. I didn't read your review (although I will later) since I preordered it months ago and it won't be landing here until the 21st of January. I don't like to read other people's reviews about books until after I've read them. A quirk, I know, but it is what it is.

Reading and very much enjoying Somerset Maugham's Ashenden, a fictional recounting of some of his adventures as a British agent during World War I.

I finished Ashenden by Somerset Maugham earlier; I'm ready for another mystery novel and it's a lazy day here so I'm well into The Inugami Clan. This one is less choppy, more of an actual mystery novel than The Honjin Murders; so far I'm liking it better than that one.
