What books have you purchased?

I managed to trawl through all the self-help books on the January sales to find Caligula. I hope it will be great!

I'm still looking at that Audible sale. I have The Weight of Ink in my cart, but can't decide on a second book. The two I was most interested in The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs: A New History of a Lost World and I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer are available as audios through Overdrive from my library, so I don't need to buy them. I keep going back and forth with the others on my list.

My first purchase of the year:
Midnight in Broad Daylight: A Japanese American Family Caught Between Two Worlds

So, I ended up getting The Weight of Ink and Head On in the Audible BOGO sale.

I broke down and got two books from the BOGO sale, and they weren't even the ones I'd held for days. I decided to get a couple of books that weren't even on my wishlist.

I used my pick this month to beg AmyK to get Pendergast #18 for me from Audible today. It is download now and I'm too tired to listen. Zzzzz

I'm listening to Becoming right now and really enjoying it.

I picked up today's Audible Daily Deal - The House with a Clock in Its Walls for 1.99. Woot! At 179 pages and 4:33 hours, this will be a quick read for the Movie Mania challenge.

I also got book 2 in the Brother Cadfael series, One Corpse Too Many from the Kindle Monthly Deals for 1.99.

As an audible UK member, it seems I can no longer buy US DDs! I didn,t realise that til today :(

They changed that recently. You can no longer get the DD's on the various international sites for Audible. You have to be a member at that site. I can only get the US deals. I can't even get the Canadian deals since I'm not a member of the Canadian site. Bummer!

I also picked up The House with a Clock in Its Walls through Audible. I figured it might be good to listen to with my grandson this summer. He'll be 10, so I think it'll be good. So glad it works for the movie challenge.

It is one of the movies, so fits the "read the book" task.

Yes, I remember that. I hadn't looked into it, so I wasn't sure about length. I was wondering if we might run into an issue with any of the books for the movies being too short for the challenge, but figured you'd probably looked into that already and either they all fit or you were making exceptions.

I believe Audible Germany doesn’t even have daily deals or any other great deals at all :(

I almost slipped up on a couple of the children's books, so I made sure that each book was long enough before putting it on the challenge.

I picked up Pompeii (didn't read it when I meant to back in 2015) and Shantaram because it's on my tbr and it's so very long.

Roz - I loved Pompeii! The other book looks interesting.

Pompeii was on sale for Kindle yesterday and I missed it. I keep missing all the deals now because they come through email instead of just being on a page where I can click on them. So, I took a few minutes to go through my email for a change today and ended up getting a couple new Kindle books.

Barnes & Noble notified me that my pre-order for The Winter of the Witch is available to download.

I used a credit and bought it today. I also bought The Girl in the Tower. When I went to update my shelves, I realized that I have Girl in the Tower on hold at the library, so I quickly returned it and got my credit refunded. I'm 7th on the list.

I read Pompeii years ago and really enjoyed it. I hope you are enjoying it so far.

Oh i hate when that happens but you got your credit back anyway! I will read [book:The Girl in the Tower soon. I didn't love book 1 f the series but it stayed with me. I am looking forward to hearing what Vasya did next!

The first book was a mixed bag for me but overall, I was intrigued enough to continue the series. I hope it gets better. From what other people have commented here, I'm hopeful.

I think I liked the 2nd story better than the first one - only because it did not seem as confusing as some of the elements in the first story. I am really looking forward to reading the third book next! I am going to punish myself first though, and read a few other books that I have languishing on my Nook.

In Diane's random around the world group roll I got Gabon (second year in a row), Uganda, Solomon Islands, and Mauritania. So I did a bit of a stock up on on books I was looking at and working out exactly what fitted where.

And of course, then I got distracted.

Another package arrived! Luckily Lexx bought a new monitor for his computer this week, so I am off the hook heh.

I picked up today's Audible daily deal, Love, Lucy.

I preordered The Map of Salt and Stars

I used two credits and got Daughter of Moloka'i and Children of Virtue and Vengeance. Both are pre-orders, but I will still get a $5.00 coupon.

I looked up to see if I had previously said this, and couldn't see anything. As soon as I posted, there it was just a couple of messages up. Sheesh!

I picked up Octavia Butler's Lilith's Brood which is the omnibus of the trilogy, Xenogenesis Series, on Kindle's Daily Deal for $2.99.

I bought 3 extra credits from Audible. They had a deal and they cost less per book than my 24 per year membership. I figured if there's another sale before my membership renews, I'm good. Otherwise, I'll just have extra credits for next year. Either way, it was a good deal so I took it.

Oh I‘m jealous now, Kristie. 24 credits? I only get 1 every month :(

Yes, I pay upfront for 2 per month. It is a bit expensive, but it costs less per book and I have them to use whenever I want. I'm not good at rationing them out.

I also share my account with my husband, so there are two of us listening to my books. He cancelled his account.

Oh okay. I just bought 3 extra credits too. I will finish my audiobook for this month today and there’s no way I can make it to February 9th without another one :D
