Time to set your reading goal for the new year! I am starting with a goal of 85, and will reset it later in the year if necessary. Here is the link to sign up:

Goodreads Challenge

message 3: by Aymee (new)

Aymee (asphaltcowgrrl) I'm trying for 125 this year. I managed 103 last year so we'll see.

message 4: by Paula (new)

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 44987 comments I set mine to 75 again. I just managed to make it in 2018 by the skin of my teeth.

message 5: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 124 comments 200 again

message 6: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Decker | 195 comments I'm going for 100!

Happy New Year and Happy Reading Everyone!

message 7: by ☯Emily (new)

☯Emily Ginder | 58284 comments Since I have 7 books of more than 600 pages to read in 2019, my goal is 40. I wish the goal was pages rather than books!

I've set mine to 180, as last year. I hope to go over it as the last year too, but better not be too ambitious.

message 10: by Pat (new)

Pat Cray-Hollis | 65 comments 150

message 11: by H.M.S. (new)

H.M.S. (hmsbrown) | 6 comments I’ve set mine for 30. Last year I went for 24 and hit 43 - finishing my 43rd book last night! Lol!

I want to get through some heavy / fact-dense books like The Civil War by Shelby Foote (The shortest of the 3 volumes is over 800 pages!), A Peace to End All Peace, and the Hemingses of Monticello - plus whatever current event books I read along the way. Cozy Mysteries are my fun books to read in between (and during!) Besides - once I discover a cozy author I like, I start at the beginning and read through everything they’ve published! It’s an addiction, to be sure!

message 12: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Set mine to 80 again. I ended up with 81 for 2018, so just beat my challenge!

message 13: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 24 comments I made mine 75. I completed 65 this year. But I’m going to start a volunteer job at our library so I’m hoping I can make it!

message 14: by Britney (new)

Britney (tarheels) | 142 comments I set mine at 40. I usually havd other projects going so I didn't want to set it to high.

message 15: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda I always set mine to 100 because it is easier for me to figure how many books I read over a number like 100. I did read 319 in 2018.

Good luck with your challenges, everyone! 👍🏻

message 17: by Trish (last edited Jan 09, 2019 09:20AM) (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 420 comments Happy New Year, everyone.

I'm starting at 175 and then I'll see how I go.

message 18: by Suze (new)

Suze Fields (water_fields) For the first time, I’m going for 45 books. I’m a slow poke reader, but I want to challenge myself 😁.

message 19: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 88 comments I think I'll try 150 again this year. I didn't hit it last year but I want to challenge myself.

message 20: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindypp) | 168 comments I set mine at 275. I hit 312 last year, but that was by some miracle I think.

message 21: by Laura (new)

Laura (dogsmomlaura) | 7 comments "Time to set your reading goal for the new year! Here is the link to sign up: Goodreads Challenge"

I have surpassed mine for the last few years but am still setting it around 350 to start. I really want to read some complete series this year but can not resist new books, especially through Netgalley.
And I still buy paperbacks.

message 22: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8978 comments I'm going with my usual 110 to start and then will raise it later in the year if need be. This is a fairly no pressure goal so the reading is still fun!

message 23: by Jane (new)

Jane I've set mine to 200 again, not counting rereads. I only did 199, ran out of time. 19 rereads.

message 24: by Katrin (new)

Katrin Happy New Year and Happy Reading to all the bookworms out there. I enjoy cozy and slow reading so my challenge will be to reading 16 books - Not counting the ones I read to my sondern :-)

message 25: by Katrin (new)

Katrin sorry, of course I meant "read" and "son"

message 26: by Libby (new)

Libby (bulldog369) I set my reading challenge to 50 books!

message 27: by Karen M (last edited Jan 10, 2019 02:45PM) (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments Once again I'm setting my goal low but I'm aiming high. 25 for now (read 104 last year) but I am trying to read some of the longer/bigger/heavier books that I've been putting off reading for years so I may not read as many books as last year but I hope to read many more pages.

message 28: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1411 comments Took me a while to figure out what my goal would be for this year. I decided on 100 books. My goal in 2018 was 90 books and I read 96.

message 29: by MarieCo (new)

MarieCo | 4 comments Set mine to 30.

message 30: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 1 comments I originally set mine at 30. I already reset it to 60. I read a lot but have no idea how many books I do read. This will be interesting.

message 31: by Ann (new)

Ann Fleming | 39 comments My goal for 2018 was 66 books. I read 71.
This year I set 75.

Eek! It suddenly occurred to me the other day that we had neglected to check in and encourage each other in our reading goals fir the year. Oops. 😬

I am currently 17/85 and two books behind. I’m not too worried since I always seem to start out the year a couple behind, but seem to make up for it over the summer. How’s everyone else doing?

message 33: by Rita (new)

Rita (Rita60) | 11 comments I set my reading challenge to 65 and have read 20 so far.

message 34: by Rita (new)

Rita (Rita60) | 11 comments I meant to say a t 65.

message 35: by Suze (new)

Suze Fields (water_fields) I’m in 11/45.

message 36: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1411 comments I'm at 23/100, which is surprisingly on target so far.

message 37: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8978 comments I'm at 38/110 - 12 books ahead! I've been kind of crazy with the reading lately though, hopeful to slow down a little next month.

message 38: by Jane (new)

Jane Heather L wrote: "Eek! It suddenly occurred to me the other day that we had neglected to check in and encourage each other in our reading goals fir the year. Oops. 😬

I've read 46/200, 1 ahead at the moment.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27504 comments Mod
Oops, I’m actually 18/85, only one book behind. I forgot to mark the book I finished yesterday as “read.” I noticed it today when I went to update progress of my current book, which is turning out to be a faster read than expected. I think it helps that it’s set in my home town, so I can easily picture the setting. 😀

message 40: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments I'm 20/25 so I guess I'll be increasing my goal soon.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27504 comments Mod
As of tonight I am 28/85, and actually “on track” — for at least a day or two, LOL.

message 42: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8978 comments 54/110 or 18 books ahead! Guess the crazy level I was reading at earlier in the year gave me a bit of a cushion.

message 43: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27504 comments Mod
Linda — Nice cushion!

message 44: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8978 comments I'm getting the feeling that my challenge will be increased at some point this year.

message 45: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27504 comments Mod
Progress at end of May: 36/85 or 42 percent, and one book ahead.

message 46: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1411 comments Right on target with 42/100 as of today.

message 47: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 132 comments 62% but I expect to slow down over the summer...

message 48: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8978 comments I’ve already increased my challenge by 10 books and am currently at 67/120 or 18 books ahead. We’ll see if this pace keeps up!

message 49: by Karen M (last edited Jun 03, 2019 03:09PM) (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments I am exactly double my last post at 40/50. Hopefully it will end with 100.

message 50: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27504 comments Mod
Mid-year check-in: At end of June I am 41/85 (48%) and, due to the last book read, now one book behind. Hoping I can get ahead over next couple months.
