I loved Martin's ASoIaF series when I started reading it sometime in the early 2000s but stopped after A Feast for Crows only because the wait between books was getting ridiculous. When he has a solid release date for the last book I'll start a reread.

The last I read about an update, he still hasn't finished The Winds of Winter and has started nothing on A Dream of Spring.

Yeah I know. It is going to be a long wait I'm thinking. I hope not.

I had been hoping at least The Winds of Winter would have been finished before the TV show but that didn't happen.

Me too.

Beneath the Surface by Simon Strantzas 3/5
Viriconium by M. John Harrison 4/5

I don't think I'm going to even do that. I bought my GOT hardcover the day it came out. The last book came out in 2011. I'm done. I watched the show instead.

I have my doubts that Martin will ever finish another Game of Thrones book.

Growing Things and Other Stories
Paul Tremblay can write great short fiction too! The first half of the book has the best of the stories, but there was only one story I didn't like in the whole collection.

Finished American Elsewhere yesterday. I thought it was pretty damn good. More of a sci-fi and mystery story than horror but I enjoyed it.

Loved both of them, now looking for something to sink my teeth into next.

If you like a good monster story, try Hunter Shea

I have this one on my tbr and have heard so many good things about it that since you think it is "outstanding" David, then I know I better move this one way up on my tbr! :)

Yep, me too.

I loved it but i really enjoy the feel of gothic books. I don't tbink you'll be disappointed.

I read her A Feast of Sorrows which I believe includes stories from that collection. Terrific story-teller and a truly good writer. Since you like that, you might also like Theodora Goss' In the Forest of Forgetting.
Right now I'm almost done with Lauren Beukes' The Shining Girls, which is a riveting time time-travel murder mystery.

Really great, fast-paced unique thriller."
Is it better then some of her other books? I have a hard time getting into her stuff.

I think this is the first book since Pet Sematary in high school to keep me up at night! Hugely impressed by Barron. Can't wait to read more.

I'd rank it as one of her best.

I really loved it! This is the first time in a while that I feel like I've discovered a new favorite book and author. Excited to check out all the Barron weirdness out there.

It's so great when you discover an author you love and then finding out they have a number of novels or short stories for you to catch up on. Total bliss!

Definitely! Do you have a favorite of his after The Croning?

One of his collections, yes-The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All!

I just finished listening to Jonathan Maberry's The Dragon Factory which is the 2nd in the Joe Ledger series. It was excellent. 4.5/5 stars

Another book I read about three weeks ago was this one by author, Duncan Ralston. Five star read as I was glued to my kindle as the more I read the book, the harder it was to put down!
