2019 reading goals

1. I'm going for 200 also. I don't really want to go over that as I take too much time away from my other things, like studies and kids. So I might try a monthly goal and hold myself to it.
2. I am going to, again, put in a goal of 12 (1/month) of non-fiction. I got it (barely) done this year.
3. Going to try to complete twice as many series as I start.

Last year i wanted40 initially. Then i adjusted it to 25 and i end up reading 25 exactly.
This year i have a plan.
I plan on reading....
12 BOMs
And 1 book per week
So thats 64 books. I think the way i planned it. I have more of a chance of achieving such a high number (well for me anyway).
I may end up getting distracted and reading more. But i have put a minimum amount this year and if i go over, well so be it.

If you count the BOM as your book for the week that could be 52. I definitely would as whatever speed I'm reading at is what is going to happen. When I read everything in print, it was a push to get 10 stories a month in and I only reached my goal barely and then through novellas, which I do like so not an issue. Find good novellas, make my goal, ha. Audio really has changed my numbers goal.
I see what you mean. No i have to read 1 book per week plus the bom book. I might end up reading a load of novellas, and i haven't taken ARCs into account either. I may end up reading 70 or so... but we shall see how i go for now. I have a few Audiobooks planned too.
So far i have planned:
lord of the rings on audiobook.(3books)
a reread of the harry potter series. (7books)
13 storey treehouse series by Andy Griffith ...kids books i know, but my friends daughters are reading them and want me to read them, so I'll give them a go. I may just end up reading it to them!(7books)
Ulysses by james joyce... if i can't get through reading it, i will audio book it. But i am determined.
Art of war by Sun Tzu... this book has been taunting me for the last few years, i dont HAVE to read it and i still may not end up reading it. But I've got to give it a go.
So thats 19 books so far (assuming i read all the treehouse books).
Just got to find 45 more books and actually read them all!!

Ulysses is really hard and although you could listen to it, I think that you'll miss many of the references or be able to catch the allusion. Actually you kind of need a guide to get through it. Might be better to try A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, easier to understand on straight reading and shorter, if you are just looking for a classic from Joyce. I find him a bit dry though having what I read explained, I've only read parts, was really interesting. Maybe a well annotated version?
I started Sun Tzu many times in the past. Never completed it.
I loved the Lord of the Ring in my early 20s but since I didn't like the Hobbit as much on reread this year, I might not love LOR on reread either. Hmm... Still I loved it at the time, reread it shortly after. Ending up getting The Silmarillion and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo afterward but wasn't enthralled like I was with LOR.

I so get that. I had been avoiding Imp series last book, The Morning Star and read the spin offs and novellas. Ended up reading it about 6 month after release and sad to see Sam's part end.
On the other hand... I dove right into Magic Triumphs when it came out and sad to get to Kate and Curran's end to but I just couldn't wait while seeing everyone reading and reviewing.

Finish as many series before starting new ones. Always fail miserably at this.
Read some new authors.
More crime thrillers and mysteries.
Planned more books to read with my kids. Last year we read an Anthony Horowitz series and had a blast reading together. This year we are going to tackle 3 series. I'm so looking forward to this.
Read more In Death books.
Art of war and Ulysses are two books that haunt me. Ive been trying to find an excuse to read it. And i was trying to listen to more audiobooks this year. So i thought id start with those first. also people seemed to read these in high school... and i missed out on them. We didn't read any classics apart from romeo and juliet. So out of curiosity i want to see what its like. I have heard they are hard to read thats why i was just going to get the audiobooks.
LOR gave me a migraine whenever i tried to read it. So i am DEFINITELY listening to the audio book. Ive sampled it before and it sounds Epic! So im looking forward to it.

Last year I did a 200 challenge and read 300 but I have to say it was to the sufferance of my studies as I only got around have of what I wanted to study done there. If I read faster... but alas, I'm no speed reader.
So come let us know what goals you have. If it is only a number, that's great too.
