Authors,

it helps the sales of your books here if you become involved in all the different threads with so many different subjects.

My experience here is the better the member/readers get to know you the more they will read your books.

As authors it would be nice to get to know you as well.

So please do join in the threads.

We do our best as a group to attract and help authors, but great if you are more involved.

Thanks

D.B. Woodling | 232 comments Sean, I often feel terribly guilty because I haven't the time to join in nearly as many discussions as I'd like. But I make a point to set aside a half-hour each week to peruse as many as possible. Please know AGT is one of my favorite groups, and your interest and devotion to A Good Thriller is wonderfully apparent.

R.D. Murray | 9 comments This is very hard to write, but when I was in the 3rd grade I was bullied so badly I wanted to kill myself. All because I was shy, quiet and awkward. I was thrown in the boy’s bathroom by these 3 particular kids who would punch and kick me as hard as they could. I could barely walk as everyday they would abuse me over, and over again. The other kids in school would just laugh at me and no one helped. In fact, those same kids who watched and knew about my abuse would just join in, tease me, and they even threw food at me during lunch. My mom came to school so much to fight for me, but it didn’t help. I had just about given up living in this world. Somehow God saved me and I found writing. It was an outlet to take me away from the pain I was going through in this world. I wanted to create different characters, and a different world just to escape. Writing really saved my life. Now at 42 I just released my first novel. My Dead Blue Caterpillar. I have to say I still am a bit shy so this is hard for me to ask but any support for my book would be very helpful. It’s very inexpensive and a good read. I want to thank you deeply from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much for joining me.

R.D. Murray

There are certain authors who are taking liberties and trying to promote their works outside of the 'Book Promotions Folder'. Reviews etc., are only to be posted within this folder and nowhere else. A number of authors are repeatedly promoting their books, fine, but when it's outside in other folders then that is not acceptable and will be taken down.

Thanks

Yes recently I have been moving, quite often author posts.

One joined today and went straight into advertising his book in 2-3 different places, the worst was in the introduction places...

Annoying

Jeremiah Hope (jeremiahhope) | 3 comments I sure will - complete newbie to Goodreads, not sure how it took me so long, like Facebook but with something here I want to spend time on!
Yes a first time author but also a big reader and looking for the next 'Shardlake like' series - suggestions anyone?

message 71: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bowen (patriciaannbowen) | 1 comments Thanks for the advice. I'm sure we all feel like we're drowning in competitive promotions, so I'll put mine off for now. I'd rather get to know the writers, why they like goodreads, how they manage to keep up with all it offers. ;-)

Donnell Bell (donnellannbell) | 2 comments Love thrillers, and try to write them;) I also love friendly people and just read a couple on NetGalley. Would love to be part of this group. I read mysteries and thrillers and have so many favorite authors it's too long to count. I'm not joining many groups these days, but this looks like something I could learn from and further give back. Thanks for considering me.

A friendly group.

Welcome Donnell

message 74: by Dave (new)

Dave Wickenden (dogday) Thanks for the invite Sean. As I mostly write thrillers (1 YA Fantasy), this is an exciting platform and hope to contribute in a meaningful way. I also have adapted my books into screenplays and they are available for movie executives on the International Screenwriter Association site. I am a member of the International Thrillers Association and the Writers Union of Canada. Always open to questions, especially new writers who need advice. I have been an Editorial Intern for a small press whose main task was manuscript evaluations and recently opened a Beta Reading business with that experience.

message 76: by John (new)

John Burns | 3 comments Hi, Brand new to Goodreads. I'm an author who writes crime/thrillers and I'd love to participate in this group for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is to study what readers are engrossed with these days. Being a full time author leaves me with little time to read as the younger me did. My debut novel is available all over the place and I have 8-five star reviews after only seven weeks on Amazon. Readers like it, but I dare not mention the title least I get in trouble for posting inappropriately.
Is this where I ask if I can join the group??
Thanks!
John Burns - Author

message 83: by Robert (new)

Robert S | 2 comments Hi

My name is Robert S Birch, and I have just published my first book which is a mystery/thriller called Dangerous Heritage (see promotions folder). As a debut author, it is with some trepidation that I dip my toe into the sea of critical readership, but I have quickly learned that it is the only marketing avenue open to those without the muscle of the big publishers.

I was born in Tanzania where I lived for the early years of my life. Since then, I have sold motor spares, served as a fighter pilot in the RAF and farmed the land. I am retired now but still active in my garden and at the computer. I look forward to hearing your views on my book if you choose to read it but also on other books in the genre. You never stop learning.

message 84: by T.D. (new)

T.D. Severin | 7 comments Absolutely not a problem. Thanks for having me. I look forward to the discussion as thrillers, particularly Medical Thrillers, are the bulk of my reading!
