Cypress (cypresslynx) Like many here, this is my first time really connecting with the Goodreads community. I'm really look to make some friends through this challenge as well as finally get around to all the books I've been meaning to read (or at least make a dent in the list)!

I set a modest goal of 30 books to read, as I work full-time and am also a full-time graduate student (last semester though!). I also want to give myself flexibility to read/listen to longer books. I will be reading primarily science fiction, but I've also got a smattering of non-fiction and a variety of other literary fiction on my list.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting and joining you all in this adventure!

Lena (adroitdroid) | 69 comments For starters, welcome! Best of luck with grad school, work, and your reading challenge — you have more willpower than I do, that's for sure.

Looking forward to seeing which science fiction books you recommend!

Jakob (4841) Good luck with your 2019 reading goal!

I’m also aiming for 30 books this year, and feel you on the balancing school, work and other front.

What type of sci-fi do you like best? I didn’t think of myself as someone who liked sci-fi until quite recently, but have found myself drawn more and more to the genre. Especially if it involves end-of-the-world or dystopian themes.

Hutch (hutch316) Oooh interesting reading list ahead!! I look forward to seeing it :)

All the best this year and welcome to GR.

Is there a book you have in mind to start the year?
