Fatal Frost does sound more alliterative!

I think Nora Roberts is one of my most read authors - I have an aunt who is a huge fan and has almost every book - but I think I read so many at once that I came to a point where I needed to give it a rest. I would like to read the series, though! I read the 10th book but I missed a lot of details from previous ones. So, I will definitely give the first in the series a shot.

The most important thing is that you feel better and take care of yourself!

Usually I have a problem with watching a movie without reading a book (I get disappointed soooo many times), and the same goes for series, but I ran out of things to watch on Netflix, so I added "You" to my list.

Last time I saw a series adaptation was for "Thirteen reasons why"; I liked the book but could not even get through the first episode. I recall that I made a huge effort to watch it another day until the end but I gave up on the second episode. There were so many discrepancies between the series and the book that I could not handle it.

Worst Book: The Mermaid's Sister (will finish today, but it is so slow and does not keep my attention)

"The Fault in Our Stars" is one of my favourite books EVER. I cried SOOOO much!

message 155: by Franziska (new)

Franziska (chaoschild) | 136 comments @ Diana: That's the reason why I read "You" first. But it's absolutely fine to watch the Netflix series without the book. There are several things that are different from the book (and I think I even like the series better, although I already loved the book). So let me know what you think when you've started the series :)

And I also loooooove "The Fault in Our Stars". Such a good book, I cried my eyes out at the end!!!

message 156: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 150 comments Best Book so far: Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold

Worst Book so far: Birthday Suit - It was okay but I've read so many more so far that have been so much better

I love Nora Roberts' books and especially In Death. I'm in a BR where we are reading one a month. We're currently on #31. You become so invested in all of the characters.

message 157: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 324 comments Do we have everything covered to fill all our hands and complete the many challenge? I have time to finish one or two if needed or should I hold off so that they can count for March.

message 158: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 324 comments I have enjoyed all of my books so far so I’m going to reserve the worst for a later month. I think the one I would give the best to is Dark Matter.

message 159: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Here's an update on how we're doing:
February main:
Missing:
5 Yellow - Amanda with "Devil's daughter"
2 WD4 - Mary with "The wrath and the dawn" to mimmic either 1/2 Red + Diana with something for 1/9 Red with either "Simon vs the homo sapiens agenda" or "Mary Poppins".

For the mini we need:
Alliterative title - Amanda with "Fatal frost"
2 x I
1 x O
1 x R
2 x T

"Devil's daughter" works for R (series name).
"The wrath and the dawn" works for T (title).
"Mary Poppins" works for T (author).

So we need 1 x O and 2 x I. Or we can swap "Indulgence in death" for one I spot and somebody reads a book with MPG Mystery. Any volunteers for those?

message 160: by Franziska (new)

Franziska (chaoschild) | 136 comments I will finish „on the come up“ tomorrow for O :)

message 161: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 324 comments Thanks, Diana....I can finish a mystery before the end of the month and I will save my current reads for next month.

I'm actually reading a mystery now - Best Kept Secrets by Sandra Brown

message 163: by Amanda A (last edited Feb 23, 2019 10:33AM) (new)

Amanda A | 290 comments In the last few days, I read a T author and R series and I just entered them on the spreadsheet. I also read a couple of mysteries but I did not enter those since others are planning to cover that task.

I think I have removed all of the books from my Uno shelf that were not used, but let me know if you see something I missed.

I am planning to read an I title today, I've Got My Eyes on You.

message 164: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments With the books that were recently added to the spreadsheet I was able to do some shuffling and for the mini we just need:

Alliterative title - Amanda
R - from the 5 Yellow - Amanda
Mystery book - either from Alissa or Karen, if one of you wants to save the book you're currently reading for next month, that is ok!

We're doing beyond great! :)

Amanda you are missing a start date for "Finding justice".

message 169: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Btw, I think I sould tell everybody that I haven't heard from Sreshtha in a while. At first she told me that she was really busy but that she would definitely read something, but she hasn't replied to my last message from a few days ago. I reported it yesterday in the captain's group and I am waiting for an answer from Pixie.

Sreshtha Basu | 78 comments Hello everyone! I joined University late and hence, had to catch up with all the work that was done. We also had a crazy amount of assignments to be submitted by the end of this month. I had started Fahrenheit 451 but I couldn't finish it. I realise that it is frustrating to have a non-active member and if you want to replace me, that's absolutely understandable. I just wanted to drop in and apologise. Good luck with the rest of the challenge!

Franziska (chaoschild) | 136 comments So, just to be on the save side. Do we have everything covered? Because then I’ll save up my almost finished books until March 1st, otherwise I would have time for one more to finish

Hi Sreshtha,

It is now up to Pixie because I see that she removed you from our team spreadsheet already. Did you intend to play next month?

Hello Franziska,

Well, I see that Amanda finished the book for the alliterative title, and Karen is pretty convinced she'll be able to finish a mystery book. I believe Amanda will have no problem filling the 5 Yellow spot, I have mine on track and Mary is also supposed to finish "The wrath and the dawn". Mary, how is that going?

Franziska (chaoschild) | 136 comments I just checked our new hands for March. I can definitively cover Blue 0 with The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli , which I will finish on Friday (I could finish it earlier, but I will leave it for March).

Awesome! We can start submitting answers to the murder case! We have 3 guesses! Let me know your thoughts on:
- Who killed Faustus Dutton?
- How was it done?
- What was it about the killer that gave him or her away?

Well, I guess you have the most awful captain when it comes to colours, because I got as a response in the captains group the following:

"very red! red like a ladybird :)"

And this concludes February! Hooray! Well done everybody! :)

message 196: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Should I send our first guess as:
- Murderer: Elaine
- How: Being a seamstress she used her knowledge to hide the syringe in the bed.
- What gave her again: showing up late at Donna’s office as if she wasn’t interested in discovering who the murderer is, because she is the murderer.

Ok? :)
