Just making sure you know. I had long drives. I might work for the mini challenge too

I asked other captains. I had previously asked if this one Goodbye, Things On Minimalist Living by Fumio Sasaki worked, but they said no, so I am not sure how much of a blanket they want.
Hopefully your book works, at least it does for me. As soon as I hear back from the others I’ll let you know.

Catch-22 fits more spots than I put in for because of space. Please let me know if I need to check for other spots

No need! I already used it on the main challenge and I am going to put it on the mini for task 5 :)

It is a blanket! *yey*

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Alissa, can I ask you to change the edition of Inkheart (Inkworld, #1) by Cornelia Funke to this default one? I am assuming you listened to it, and in that case, and according to the Mods: “The book that you shelve is the book that you use for the colour cover. With audiobooks you can shelve the audiobook edition or the default edition.” The edition that you have shelved is not over 50% red, but if you change it then we’re good :)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Karen, about Deacon (Unfinished Hero, #4) by Kristen Ashley , don't you think it has a black cover? I was thinking about covering that spot with this book, but realized you did not put it as a possibility on the tracking sheet.

Yes, it is definitely black (Tin Eye shows it at 69%). I'll add that to the spreadsheet. Sorry I missed that.

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Hello ladies,

A brief update on the challenge, as we are roughly entering the last week of March:

> Main challenge:
10 books left (18 books - 8 that Amanda has in her shelf)

Mini challenge:
> 12 books left (counting the same 8 books on Amanda's shelf)

I will definitely finish the 2 books that I put on the tracking sheet, for the spot "person with glasses on the cover" and "book where there is an argument".

I am counting on Mary to finish the book for the Red 5 + task 40. and perhaps Hidden Figures, for task 1. on the mini. Mary, what do you say?

I am still waiting on what Amanda will say about the spots that her books fit for the mini challenge, but from my "investigation", we have the following spots open:

14. Read a book with a group of friends
Spell-it-out:
O, C(x2), M, D - in case the O turns out to be difficult to find, we can shuffle thing around and instead of filling the O, we can fill the spot 4. "team" in text/title or 12. "exit" in text/title.
37. Read a book with G-O in the title (doesn't need to be in that order)
38. Read a book with R-U-N in the title (doesn't need to be in that order)

Of course, there is always the possibility to shuffle things around! Task 37 can be replaced by Task 18. "order" in text/title. And surely some other cases. However, it seems that no books so far can be put under task 14, so if anyone has a book to cover that, please let us know.

I hope your weekend is going well, and that you're reading really awesome books :D

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 150 comments Diana, don't know if this will work but in Black Hills by Nora Roberts , the MC has a wildlife habitat and a group of people all work together there. They are all friends and work together to rescue one of the MCs. Does this work for #14?

From your description it looks like they have an active role on the book, is that correct? If so, I think that works!

Oh, definitely. Most of the book is about all of them working together at her wildlife refuge and being together after work. The MC's best friend is part of the group.

That definetely works! I'm just going to ask Amanda a couple of questions, so that we can shuffle things around.

So, Amanda :) does any of the books you read work for:
> 14. Read a book with a group of friends
> 16. Read a book where someone goes shopping

And is it the case that the MC in No Good Tea Goes Unpunished (A Seaside Cafe Mystery #2) by Bree Baker works on her own iced tea shop? That would work for task 17.

> 16. Read a book where someone goes shopping
First & Then by Emma Mills - Devon goes shopping for Homecoming dresses with Lindsay and a couple of other girls

No Good Tea Goes Unpunished (A Seaside Cafe Mystery #2) by Bree Baker - Everly owns an iced tea shop and café so this would work for task 17.

message 273: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments All shuffling done! Everybody can consult the tracking spreadsheet now :)

For the mini we are left with the task with the blanket on the cover, that I believe Amanda will cover; task 40, that Mary will take care off (Mary, we already covered the 3 people on the cover task, so don't worry with that!); and then a title with G-O, and Spell it out: M, D, C(x2).

Thus we are missing a total of 8 books on the mini and 6 on the main (that will definitely be covered by those 8 for the mini)!

message 274: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm sorry for being a slow reader this month. I will most likely get one more book done.

message 275: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 324 comments I have another C or M I will be finishing by the end of the month depending on where you want to put it. I will update the spreadsheet tonight since I finished my other two and update those as well. I will see where it fits for the main challenge. I’m trying to squeeze in one for GO but no promises yet 🤓

message 276: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Slytherpuff, I think we'll have plenty of books to cover this month's spots, so if you want, you can save that book for next month :)

I used two books that Amanda had on her shelf and for the main we are only missing the 5 Red that Mary is reading. *yey*

Then for the mini challenge, we are missing the blanket one - Amanda in charge again; the glasses - me; and a letter C!

I am going on a guess here and say that Alissa has that C covered, right? :)

Other than those I mentioned, if someone wants to save their books for next month, do it! We have a tough one on our way!

Diana Costa | 1027 comments The only spot we have left is the Red 5 on the main challenge and I am currently reading Five Children and It by E. Nesbit . Mary, if you feel like you won't be able to finish your book, let me know and I will quickly finish this one. Otherwise I'll save it for the Red 4 in April. :)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Hello! I am sooo sorry I haven't said anything in the past couple of days, I flew home for a quick visit, but then there were so many things to take care of on that end, and I got back and I am so swamped in work, that I unplugged a bit.

So, in first place, once again we completed all tasks both in the main and in the mini challenge. Yey us! We haven't been very lucky with our cards, so even though we did great, I think we were in the middle of the classification table. This last month is also not as fantastic as it could be in terms of maximum points, but I hope we'll read amazing books and turn it into a blast :)

Now let's discuss the coloured cards:
LAST EDITED 04/14
4 Red x 1 — done!
2 Blue x 1 — I'll be reading The Housekeeper and the Professor, which fits either the 2 or the 3 Blue
3 Blue x 1
4 Blue x 1 — Death by Scones read by Amanda might cover either a 4, a 2 or a 9 Blue
7 Blue x 2 — one covered by Alissa with King's Cage.
9 Blue x 1
2 Green x 1 — Diana reading for that spot
3 Green x 1 — done
4 Yellow x 1 — covered by Amanda with 4th of July.
5 Yellow x 2
7 Yellow x 1 — already duplicated - covered by Karen with The Boubon Kings
8 Yellow x 1 — covered by Slytherpuff with Homegoing ?

and also 3 WD4 but we just have to worry about two of them!

Are you planning on reading something for these spots?

I'm only about 25% in, so I'll keep looking for something that fits for a 4.
