Does a character count if he's a murder victim and mentioned throughout the story? He was apparently murdered in the 1st book of the series (which I haven't read) but his body discovered in this one.

I'm sure this question has come up before but I can't remember the exact answer. I'll double check but I think he would need to appear in the story, have some dialogue etc to count. If he appeared in flashbacks for example I think it would be OK but if he's literally just a dead body they talk about I suspect not.

Checked in the captains group and I'm afraid it's a no to murder victims as characters regardless of whether there are flashbacks.

"He is a murder victim, and usually those are pretty dead, unfortunately. (Sorry, that just slipped out like that and makes me grin now so I'm leaving it hehe.)

If there are flashbacks, you still couldn't exactly count him as a character in this particular book, even if he was a major character in previous installments of the series, because he was already dead at the beginning of this book, so not an actual character anymore.

Does a Viscount count as a V when he is referred to as Viscount Trimble?

I can check but I don't think it's more than 50% green and unfortunately Viscount doesn't count for a V either I'm afraid. It has to be a name rather than a title so no emperor for E or Princess for P.

Teri, that sounds like the perfect way to spend a day. It's my birthday tomorrow so I'm hoping to do the same.

Hmm-- Might not be worth reading just yet although it has a few other cards we may need. Unless someone has read it already? Any Mary Balogh fans?

Ummm...I'm not really sure, you mean like if you click on someone's profile and go to their READ shelf and type in a book that you are reading to see if they read it already?

Where is everyone? Reading?

Had a rough few days. My youngest son fell at school and got hurt, he’s okay but emergency care trip was necessary. My hubby’s bday was yesterday so i haven’t gotten much read last two days- hopefully today will be boring and regular! Hope everyone else is doing well!

Sorry I've been a bit quiet, still having cat issues so have been dotting back and forth to vet and generally just worrying. He's been limping around since Saturday and despite being on painkillers since then and antibiotics since yesterday seems to be getting worse not better. It's driving me mad seeing him sore and not knowing what to do.

I have been reading though and am pretty close to finishing another couple of books.

I’m still here and reading! I had a super busy weekend and didn’t get much reading done and this week at work has been crazy stressful. I’m ready for the weekend!

My goodness! I only commented because the group is usually pretty active so now I know why. Pets and children are such a worry when they're ill or injured. Nothing worse than a phone call from the school. Best wishes to the invalids.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed nothing goes wrong here or with my daughter in this week before our holiday. Stocking up with books to take. Will we get another Mini Challenge on Monday? I may have to readjust my packing.

We are due another mini but there's no word on it yet. Usually they post in captains group a couple of days in advance but nothing so far. Either they're still coming up with something or they're keeping it a mystery

Hi all, just a quick heads up that the mini will be starting on the 15th. Similar to the previous one it's a mix of tasks (cover colour, title starts with etc) and spell it outs. It is a little different though in that we'll have some choices to make. I'll try and get us all up to date tomorrow morning and the mini should be up at some point too.

Books finished after the 15th can be used for the mini so if you're near the end of a book it may be worth hanging off to finish it if you can.
