The Mini Challenge, I've been trying to figure out the best way of doing this and I'm thinking it may be best if for the specific tasks we decide who's doing which ones just to make sure they're all covered.
We've got a couple covered already so I'll list them below and you can shout out if you have something that'll fit one of the ones outstanding:
1. Read a book with a housekeeper, maid or servant in the story - (Jen, would King of Scars work here?)
2. Read a book where the main character works in the medical field -
3. Read a book tagged MPG science
4. Read a book where a murder occurs - Lauren (Where the Crawdads Sing) or Lauri (Shinju)
5. Read a book tagged MPG mystery - Lauri
6. Read a book based in Sweden or by a Swedish Author
7. Read a book with an alliterative title
If you don't have anything or we have multiple options don't worry if your book doesn't fit a task we have plenty of letters to cover in the spell it out.
In terms of the tab on the tracking sheet. If it's not used for one of the specific tasks you can add your book to the letter on the sheet where you think it fits best. I think we target the difficult letters (Q, U) first and those we have a lot of (S, N, I, E) but I've added a column for alternatives though so if you can also list different options that would be great.
Will this work for everyone or do you think there might be a better way of doing it?

Lauren, I really didn't think it through when I set up the sheet for the mini on our tracker, sorry. It's probably better just to add books in one place so I've moved your book to the "murder occurs" task for now and put most of the other info into the alternatives column. All of the information you added is still there (thank you for adding it) I've just taken a copy of the sheet and hidden it.

That sounds like an intriguing read Lauri. I've been trying to read more widely as almost every book I read seems to be set in the UK or US so this would be perfect. At the moment I've been struggling to focus on any one book and have been jumping around a lot. Not helped by getting half a dozen books from the library and about the same number of ARCs. There's too much choice and I want to read them all immediately.

I actually really enjoyed it. You get to read from the point of view of Nikolai, Zoya, and Nina mainly with a couple others added in. But Nikolai's perspective is actually quite enjoyable. I liked his character before, but I think he's now one of my favourite characters.
Also I think King of Scars would actually work for the Servant. As there are actually plenty of servants in this book, and at some points its even told from one of the characters whom is technically a servant. And there are a couple of other characters as well that would probably fall into that category.

I am as white as you can get married to a Filipino Chinese man. I do have a little Native American blood... I don't know why I feel such an affinity to Chinese & Japanese culture, but I really do! Especially ancient times. I would highly recommend all of Lisa See's books to begin with. Also Amy Tan.
I can also do alliterative title for the Feb. Mini. I have Rosemary Remembered. I should finish by Monday...
Fantastic. I think we use Shinju for the mystery, King of Scars can cover the servant and Rosemary Remembered for the alliterative title (I'm so glad you have that one Lauri as I was struggling).That just leaves MPG science and main character works in the medical field and based in Sweden or by a Swedish author.
I did start Working Stiff: Two Years, 262 Bodies, and the Making of a Medical Examiner for the MPG science task (also works for medical field task) but I was trying to read it on the train this morning and I'm not sure I can do it. The descriptions of autopsies are proving a little too graphic for me and it's freaking me out. I've switched to a yellow 7 book for the moment.

Most of my recent Asian reads seem to have involved cats for some reason. Although I did stumble across Korean thriller The Good Son. It was a little odd and pretty gory but really good

Yay!!! We're getting there with those colour cards. Just a yellow 9, yellow 7, blue 4 and a wild draw 4 to go. My current read is a yellow cover. Should work for yellow 7 or can duplicate the yellow 3 for the WD4.

As there is only a week left can you let me know what you think you'll realistically be able to read and what if any tasks you can cover? I started Anything You Can Do this morning which will cover the main character works in the medical field task and I have the audio of The Dying Game which should cover the Swedish task. Can't guarantee I'll get the audio done in time (it takes me forever to finish an audio) but the medical one should be a quick read.
Other than that I can maybe finish two more, depending on the book. I do have a red cover Q book but not sure it fits the 4 and another that'll definitely fit the red 4 but I'm not sure what else.

That's great Lauren. Just the yellow 9 left on the colour cards. I love Backman but haven't read that one so will be interested to hear what you think of it. I've just finished binge reading Anything You Can Do so that takes care of character in the medical field.
It is getting late here so I'll update everything tomorrow. I have a much needed day off and my only plan is a trip to the stables to meet the vet so hopefully I can get all caught up.
