Rachael Hewison (rachhewison) | 459 comments Hi team!!

I'm Rachael, I'm your Captain and this is my fourth year of doing the Uno challenge. I'm from Birmingham in the UK. I read about 4 books a month and will read any genre. I go to a book club once a month which is great, means I often get to read books I wouldn't normally come across.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Kelly (louloo) | 314 comments Hi!

I’m Kelly. I plough though as many books as real life allows a month. I’m quite partial to a happy ending so chick lit is a favourite. Can’t wait to get started! This is my second year in the challenge.

message 6: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments Hello!

I'm Katie and I've participated maybe 3 times in this challenge (I think). I'm currently in Pittsburgh, PA with a husband and 2 little kids. I used to read a ton, but now with 2 active kids I find myself with a lot less time. I try to get in as much as I can, though. I read almost all romance, though I do venture out from time to time. :P

message 7: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Hi team,

My name is Leslie and I live on the west coast of Canada. Although this is my first time playing the UNO challenge, I am your co-captain. I can't wait to get started. I look forward to learning from Captain Rachel and helping the team any way I can.

I read many different genres and love how the goodreads challenges have pushed me to read books I wouldn't have typically read.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments Hiya team!

I’m Danielle and I’m from Wales. This is my fourth time playing UNO and it’s always a fun one.

Romance is mainly what I read. I do also like Fantasy, with some Mystery and Sci-Fi thrown in.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments My shelf for this challenge is UNO

message 10: by Fi (new)

Fi | 182 comments Hi everyone. :)

I'm Filipa and I'm from Portugal. I've played Uno before - I skipped last year, but I'm sure it'll come back to me quickly. I read m/m romance, but within that any subgenre works for me. I'm always looking for good fantasy and sci fi though.

My shelf

Ashley Karczewski (ashleylorna) | 152 comments Hey everyone!

My name is Ashley and I’m from Newcastle, England. I believe this is my third year playing UNO, it’s always great fun and I’m looking forward to starting!

I mostly read romance/fantasy/sci-fi books but I do enjoy most genres and like to mix it up a bit. The amount I read fluctuates a lot but I’ve been on a good reading streak lately so I hope I can keep it going for the next few months :-)

message 15: by Liz (new)

Liz Hi!
I'm Liz and this is my first time at UNO, so I want to make sure that I do everything right! (Let me know if I get something wrong or miss something). I read about 4 books a month and I read absolutely everything.

I'm excited to participate this year :)

Rachael Hewison (rachhewison) | 459 comments Looks like we have a few Romance readers. What are your favourite books?

message 17: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (louloo) | 314 comments Rachael wrote: "Looks like we have a few Romance readers. What are your favourite books?"

I’ve just finished The Moon Sister by Lucinda Reilly. All of her books are fabulous. I also like Heidi Swain, Katie Fforde, Cathy Kelly, Lulu Taylor And loads of others!!

Katie | 230 comments Rachael wrote: "Looks like we have a few Romance readers. What are your favourite books?"

That's always such a hard question to answer! I think my favorite series is Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews.

message 19: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments Rachael wrote: "Looks like we have a few Romance readers. What are your favourite books?"

Hard to answer. Some of my favourites are anything by Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Anne Bishop, Lauren Dane, Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward, J.D. Robb, Abi Roux, Kristen Ashley, Rhys Ford, Mary Calmes. There’s many more that I can’t think of now, but I’ll leave it at that.

Fi | 182 comments Rachael wrote: "Looks like we have a few Romance readers. What are your favourite books?"

My favorite authors are probably Ginn Hale, Harper Fox and Matthew J. Metzger. I also really like K.J. Charles, Eli Easton, Jordan L. Hawk and T.J. Klune, but it can be a bit hit or miss sometimes.

Rachael Hewison (rachhewison) | 459 comments Not long to go until it starts!

How's everyone's weekend going?

message 22: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments I am really excited to get started! :)

It's so nice to have a 3 day weekend. We were going to take the kids to the museum today, but there was some winter weather last night and the roads aren't the best right now. So, maybe we'll have a snow day and play outside instead. How is yours going, Rachael?

message 23: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Karczewski (ashleylorna) | 152 comments I’m eager to get started too! I’m trying to put off starting anything new until the challenge starts.

Weekend has been good thanks. I’m off work all next week too so I’m looking forward to some chill time :-)

Hope everyone else’s weekends are going well!

message 24: by Rachael (new)

Rachael Hewison (rachhewison) | 459 comments You've got snow? They keep saying it's going to snow here but nothing so far.

What are you going to get up to with your time off Ashley?

Mine was great thanks. I went to a running fair yesterday, trying to get back into running now that my injuries seem to be getting better.

For Uno I think it's easiest if you just read books and then say what cards it can count for, rather than everyone being given set cards. Leslie is going to set up a spreadsheet so that you can log what books you've read and what cards it matches and then I can use that to fill in the hands and let you know if they are any particular cards we need to get. Does that sound ok?

message 25: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments Yes and it's absolutely freezing cold out there!

A spreadsheet sounds good to me. :) That's usually the way I've played in the past as well. Just read and see what fits.

Fi | 182 comments Katie I'm so jealous, we never have any snow here.

Spreadsheet sounds great. :) I'm looking forward to starting, I feel guilty everytime I see a good letter in one of my books. :p

message 27: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments The first couple snows are always exciting especially if it's Christmastime, but it gets old fast after that. :P From now until April I'm going to be dreaming of spring!

message 28: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Karczewski (ashleylorna) | 152 comments I don’t have a lot of plans mostly just catching up with a few friends and going to the gym! Nothing too exciting.

Yeah I like using spreadsheets. It is usually the best way to go about it :-)

message 32: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Karczewski (ashleylorna) | 152 comments So good to just have some time off! Not looking forward to going back to work next week though.

message 33: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Please send me a request for access to this tracking spreadsheet. We thought it might be worth trying to have us all add our books to this sheet as we read them and then Rachel can move them over to the official team spreadsheet to complete the hands in an quick an efficient manner.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

message 34: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (louloo) | 314 comments I do love a spreadsheet but all of my access is via phone and it’s impossible to fill them in!

However less than a week to go. I’m trying to hammer through my current read so I’m poised ready 😊

message 35: by Fi (new)

Fi | 182 comments I love spreadsheets as well, that works for me. I'm on my phone right now and the app is not letting me send a request, but I'll do it later today. Thanks Leslie. :)

For the finished books, do you guys want us to make a completion post in this thread as well?

message 36: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments I only use the app, so can’t send request.

message 37: by Rachael (new)

Rachael Hewison (rachhewison) | 459 comments For those that can't access the spreadsheet, if you could just leave a post here and say book name, date finished and which hands it fits

message 38: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments You could add them with their emails rather than them requesting to edit.

message 39: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Thanks Katie, I'm pretty new at all of this, haven't worked much with Google docs at all. Great learning experience though :)

I don't think I have their emails. I looked through our other docs and didn't see them.

message 40: by Fi (new)

Fi | 182 comments I just sent a request to edit, Leslie. If Danielle PMs you her email you should be able to add her.

message 41: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments Sure, I’ll send you a message with my email to you Leslie.

If you scroll up to the first post where the team is listed and click on team spreadsheet. You will see our hands there.
