Suzanne | 2453 comments Wonderful! I finished Reunited in Good Hope (A Good Hope Novel Book 8) by Cindy Kirk last night. I stuck it in for an 8 (series) but may move it depending on what we have later.

message 104: by Des (new)

Des (deslyn) | 198 comments I’ve finished my book, but I forgot to make a list of the other cards it will fit. I’ll do that either later tonight or tomorrow and post an official completion post. It’s going to take me a second to get into the Uno swing, lol.

message 105: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Great job finishing!

message 106: by Des (new)

Des (deslyn) | 198 comments It was so good once I started today, I couldn’t put it down. I’ve already checked out the next in the series and will start it tomorrow. 😃

message 107: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments I didn’t realise I could read any book from any hand I wanted *slap head* so my next book is a 0 or 1 card. I’m getting there!!

message 108: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments You're doing great Kelly. It takes awhile to absorb as ll those rules. I think you're a natural.

Des I've never read that series. Sounds like it's off to a great start!

message 109: by Des (new)

Des (deslyn) | 198 comments You ARE doing great! We have plenty of time ahead and you’ll get the hang of things in no time. Now that the game started it’ll start to fall into place. <3

I put it off because I thought it was going to be a sappy romance kinda thing, but nope. It isn’t and so far I’m loving the MC! She’s spunky.

message 110: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments Thank you! I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

I read that book (and the second) about a million years ago Des. I actually got the first book out to read again when I realised I could used it as a wild draw 4!! AND reread the series. Pretty excited about it.

message 118: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Thanks! I'm going to update our spreadsheet right now - it's always fun doing that - and I'm so proud of all the reading going on!

message 119: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments I went ahead and filled in all our Draw 2 hands. We don't have many draw 2s (they let you use a single book for 2 cards in the hand). It's GREAT we only have a few because they end up being a points drain since the draw 2 card itself doesn't get any points.

It is pretty cool that on Feb. 4, all our Draw 2 cards are done. And Des, that book works for Reverse as well as the color card, since others on our team have read it. Yay!

message 120: by Des (new)

Des (deslyn) | 198 comments The Selection? I have reverse on my list of card options for it. ;)

I’m so glad we have a lot of options with the books everyone is reading. Also yay for low numbers of draw 2’s!

message 121: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Yeah I was glad it counts for the reverse as well as the Blue color card. That was perfect :)

KayLynn Zollinger (kaylynnskorner) | 266 comments You guys are animals! How on Earth have you already read so many books?

message 124: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments It IS crazy - I read a ton now, but didn't used to - I think it all depends on life and what's going on at the time (well and interest). But one of my favorite things about Uno is that we get all different speeds of readers, with all different sorts of book preferences - everyone is important and we can all work together to fill things in. The only drawback is my "to-read" list grows so much from seeing what everyone is reading - I'll be dead before I get to all these awesome books!

message 125: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments We didn’t have a tv when I was growing up, and reading was my “thing”. It was nothing for me to churn through 30 books (max I was allowed on my library card) a week when I was at school - and still be rereading the books we owned or digging into my brothers books - or reading 5-6 regular sized adult books on a day off work. Now I have a kid and I’m a (not so) closet gamer, I actually read considerably less than I did pre-child!

My New Years resolution this year was to log EVERY book I read so I could see how much I read now I have less time to do it in.

message 126: by KayLynn (new)

KayLynn Zollinger (kaylynnskorner) | 266 comments I have to admit, that's pretty impressive. I used to read a ton when I was younger as well. Adult life has hampered that a bit. Although audiobooks have helped me read more since I can "read" when doing other things.

message 127: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments Adulting sucks and I can see why people have mid life crises now haha.

I've loved this series! I think I'll read them to my daughter as well.
I'm actually rereading #5 so it would fit in this challenge. The next one I need to read is #6, but it's been over a year so I figured rereading one book wouldn't be a big deal. I should have this book finished (again) today.

I just realized that I still can't edit our spreadsheet. I asked for permission last week and never got approved. I just sent a second request

Suzanne | 2453 comments Great - hopefully they'll see it. I think there is a spreadsheet somewhere too where they are collecting the captains emails for editing permission - I'll see if i can find it after class.

message 141: by KayLynn (new)

KayLynn Zollinger (kaylynnskorner) | 266 comments I'm a little confused about the official group spreadsheet. It looks like a couple books are repeated. I'm not understanding why.
Is that a mistake or am I missing a rule? :-)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Wonderful job this week everyone! We have 22 cards filled and 74 left - so we are basically on schedule.

Keep an eye out next week for a mini-challenge - we can use books for both that and the cards, but it is usually more....challenging.

Also, stay aware of color cards, since they can be demanding. I know when we planned them, the challenge hadn't even started, and plans change, so please speak up if you'd rather not read/don't have time for your colored book - especially at this point in the month we can easilly switch things around!

Right now we have unfinished:

Me - Forever in Blue
Kelly - Harry Potter and the cursed Child
Third Grave Dead Ahead
The Selection
Laila - Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

We also have a red book Des read - right now it is in a "reverse" spot but it could cover Third Grave, The Selection, or Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Happy Friday (almost)!

message 146: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments I’m still fine for my books. They’re firmly in my rotation, and two of them are coming up for reading within the next week. Obviously, if someone else does one in the meantime that’s cool. I’ll read them anyway haha.

message 147: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Thanks Kelly - that's great!

message 148: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments No problem! I’m enjoying this, although the last book was a bit of a slog.

message 149: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments My biggest hope for Uno is at the end we all feel like it was fun and want to do it again. Of course, I always hope to win too, but lots of that is luck - but if we can manage to get every possible point - then that's a win in my book. But still - the fun part is the most important!

message 150: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments I needed to read the book anyway, but that author drives me crazy. The story itself is good but her delivery at time just sucks.
