Melissa Harre | 21 comments Hey everyone. I just finished "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah. It was very good, but I'm excited to pick my next book. I'll let you know in a couple of days. Let me know if there is a specific card you'd like me to work on. Thanks.

message 408: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Great Melissa! The Nightengale is super useful. I think this early in the month, we need everything. I am excited to see what you choose!!

message 417: by Des (new)

Des (deslyn) | 198 comments I've finally started my first March book, The Heir (The Selection, #4) by Kiera Cass . I've had a busy start to the month, so I'm just now getting around to reading again. I'll get this one and the final "The Selection" book, The Crown (The Selection, #5) by Kiera Cass finished within 5 days. They're both due back then, so I'll get them done ASAP. :)

message 418: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Great Des - nothing like a "deadline" to give incentive.

Kelly, that's nice you may read Nine Perfect Strangers too. I feel like our team has lots of similar book tastes :)

M - I keep heaing about the Poldark saga in different places - that looks interesting.

Kelly | 976 comments Watcher in the Woods is available for me Suzanne - perfect REVERSE book!!! Also, I’m currently reading A Discovery if Witches if anyone wants to do that as a reverse later this month? I know it’s on a couple of want to read lists.

message 423: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Oh great - I'm so glad you got first on the list for Watcher! And thanks for the heads up about A Discovery of Witches.

I just finished Wolfhunter River (Stillhouse Lake, #3) by Rachel Caine - it was good!

message 424: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments Ooooh that looks interesting!!

A discovery of witches - Deborah Harkness
1 - #1 in series
3 - author last name
6 - character name (Sophie)

Also next on my list is a different REVERSE (Three Wishes - Liane Moriarty) and a possible fill in for WILD DRAW 4 if needed. Leverage in Death - JD Robb has a very red cover, and it would fit Red 8 (that’s what the red card was right?!?!?) although I do also have a YELLOW 7 that would fit there too.

message 425: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Nice - thanks Kelly! Right now we have Melissa's Nightingale book in our last Wild Draw 4 (we only had 2 this hand). However, with the number of Reverses this hand, it may be good to move that to a Reverse, and a different one into Wild Draw 4. I guess we can play it by ear. Having options is pretty wonderful :)

The Heir by Keira Cass
Date: 03/07/19
Cards: listed on planning spreadsheet

I was able to get the last book in the series a but longer, so I’ll finish that within the next few days. I’m sad I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the others. There’s a big shift in the story and I just don’t like the characters as much. ☹️

message 428: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments Hmmm I’ll keep that in mind when I get to that book!!

And I’m going to copy your idea of putting EVERYTHING on the planning sheet so I don’t waste space typing it out again.

Three Wishes

I've put all the details in the planning sheet, but I figure the most important one is the fact that it's a reverse! I don't have my phone handy, but I THINK it was Suzanne who has read it.

Also Leverage in Death (which I finished yesterday) could count as a WILD DRAW 4 if the powers that be agree it could count as a Red 8 in place of the other one that I have there in my name - the quicker it's done, the sooner we can stop stressing about the hard books! The cover of the edition I read is here: Leverage in Death

message 432: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Thanks Kelly - I'll check on that color - and yay for another Reverse!

I'm deep into Wild Country, which I'm loving (of course). I've been ignoring more work and housecleaning than I should :)

message 433: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Oh - I don't even need to ask - Leverage in Death will take care of that Wild Draw 4 for sure - very nice!

message 434: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments The house ALWAYS needs cleaning. You clean it then 30 seconds later it looks horrific. I say why bother? READ!!!

message 435: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments Perfect Suzanne! I’m currently reading another REVERSE book too. We’re gonna power through those cards this month. I think I’ll get 2-3 books finished today as my little guy is sick so I’ve made a nest in the big bed for us both. More reading for me!

message 436: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments That is a good way to get through sick time, but I sure hope he feels better soon!

It'll be nice getting lots done early - then we'll have more flexibility on the mini-challenge - whatever it ends up being. I'm sure it'll be fun :)

message 437: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments That's true - I didn't realise there was a mini challenge every month! It'll definitely be good to get all the other hard yards out of the way then. I've finished two further books - the details are in the planning sheet.

Laila Jane (axlilxlala) | 541 comments Finally finished a book this month!

Devil's Daughter (The Ravenels #5) by Lisa Kleypas Devil's Daughter for Yellow 5

I was really excited for this book, but found it really slow to start and was completely underwhelmed by the ending. I did enjoy the middle, and would probably have enjoyed the book more if an epilogue was included. Instead I felt like it just ended abruptly, and found myself scrolling all the way to the end thinking the author had somehow hidden the epilogue after the Author's Note =D

message 444: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Thanks Laila - good review! And great book to finish.

I didn't like Big Little Lies as much as I thought I would. I found it so....frustrating! All that helicopter parenting was so boring to read. Also, if that's what parenting a school age child is going to be like, I swear I'm homeschooling the bubba haha.

message 446: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Well done! I think I must have been more in the mood for Big Little Lies when I read it :)

I'll get things all updated tonight. they want us to have stuff updated pretty soon so they can decide on specifics of the mini-challenge - yay!

message 447: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments Ooooh yay!! Mini challenge!!! I’ve put everything I can think of on the planning sheet, which will hopefully cover at least one of the draw 2 cards for us. HOPEFULLY.
