Brian (brianfinn) | 638 comments I actually just started reading The Fault in Our Stars the other day but have not gotten terribly far into it yet. If I can join in on the discussion for September, I'll put off reading it until then and read along as a Buddy Read if it's not too late. Thanks Zara.

Tricia | 132 comments I finished the book recently and I gave it 4 stars. I don't know why but I have a feeling that movie was better. Maybe it's because I watched it before I read the book. I think movie gives the same story but it's easier to understand Hazel and Augustus, and the book is a bit long-winded.

Brian (brianfinn) | 638 comments I finished the book this month but haven't seen the movie yet. I really loved the book. I wanted it to be longer! It was very poignant, and Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters are two of the most genuinely likable characters I've read about in a while. I thought their relationship was so touching, and I couldn't help but tear up every few pages. I'm a little scared to see the movie now because I will probably cry my eyes out.

One thing I found unrealistic was that I felt that for being 16/17/however old they were, their dialogue didn't match the age and experience level for kids their age. Maybe I'm wrong and some people their age really are just that cultured. I didn't find it a problem or mind it because I really enjoyed just about every exchange between them and feel like the book wouldn't have worked if these two kids weren't highly intelligent (as well as quite sarcastic and witty!)

Favorite part? (view spoiler)

I've totally recommended this book to all of my friends, readers and non-readers alike. You can read it in like 2-3 hours and I think John Green is doing a good thing by reminding all of us who take our health and happiness for granted to remember that they are just lucky...these characters didn't do anything to deserve what happened to them, and the tragedy of life is how unpredictable it is. It can happen to anyone at anytime.

Great read.
