Utopian | 224 comments The name of the Persian author Dariush Shayegan is latinised in different ways in different countries. All these profiles belong to him so I am unable to combine his works in different languages. Is there any way to fix this?

Dariush Shayegan
Darius Shayegan
Daryush Shayegan

The second one might be a spelling mistake but his name is spelled like the third in Turkish editions.

One should be set as primary on all books (preferably either the most common or the one preferred by the LoC), and then the others can be secondary authors on books with them on their covers.

Amanda | 2442 comments Short Version:
They all need to have the same spelling listed as the primary author for combining.
The Primary author should be the most common English spelling.
If the cover has a different spelling than the Primary author, the cover spelling is added as an additional author.

From the Librarian manual:
Authors with books published in multiple languages should have their names dealt with similarly to those with pen names. All editions should have the primary author name as the standard or most common Roman (that is, English-language) version of the author's name. Editions published under another spelling of the name or the name in another language should have that name listed as the secondary author.

Different editions of a book not having the same primary author can cause quite a few distinct problems. Please keep the primary author for all editions of a work the same.

I think all of us are waiting for that.
