Chris Gethard offers more than a few words of wisdom in the last chapters of his book that we can carry along with us into 2019.

--> Be unique - when you've 'made it' and have the confidence to continue, challenge yourself to change things up and make the experience/job/project your own.
--> Re-challenge yourself - Chris defines this as "always be terrified. " Find a new environment to get lost in and find the potential for failure. It's always about reaching new levels of accomplishment! (I think this also keeps you humble)
--> Embrace the blocks - Sometimes it's just not going to happen. The creativity isn't there. The ideas are gone and you wonder why you ever started chasing this goal in the first place. Take the opportunity to do something else - anything else - and give yourself a break.

This author doesn't intend to be inspirational but he can't help it - he just is. Chris has accomplished his goal through his own definition of success (though it certainly isn't mine - doing stand up comedy sounds like my worst nightmare!) But it's relatable. Taking the same path of hard work and persistence can lead to success - even if there are pockets of failure along the way. The episodes that you viewed as failures might just be the times when you experienced the most growth!

I hope you enjoyed reading this book with me this month and found it to be both inspiring and funny!

I wish you all the best in 2019 and hope that you will embrace failure and ultimately, lose well.

~Marcella~
