What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Can’t remember the name or author! A whole series. The storylines were really good. I’m pretty sure the first book starts where a vampire/angel? is chained up and in a room walled off with stone. Seems like his name was Gabriel and it was in Ireland or somewhere like that in a church. He’s left to starve to death and someone opens the tomb. He’s some kind of guedian and in an order of vampires.

The Immortal Instruments series? There was a scene like this (I don't think it was in bk 1....there's 5,6 or 7 books in the series). Cassandra Clare is author.
