Kate S | 6459 comments Read a book which does not qualify for any other 10- or 20-point task. This task may only be completed once during the Spring Challenge.

Please post any questions or discussion about task 10.1 in this thread.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 3100 comments I am considering Cleave for this task. I have linked the audiobook for which I am listening to. However, I note in the US (& the MPE) is titled "Alice Springs"; Alice Springs could fit in with a couple of the 10-points tasks. Does this disqualify the book for square peg?

Yes, unfortunately for you. The MPE is the Alice Springs title, which we will use.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 3100 comments no worries, I'll claim it for 10.3. Thanks, Elizabeth :)

Ed Lehman | 2651 comments Ok...I just realized that all three of the potential books I had slotted for 10.1 were undone by the "Megafinish" task. So...I think I will switch out one of my AbC books to 10.1. Unless I'm missing something, I think Ru by Kim Thúy will fit here?
And I would like switch in to AbC.... Pereira Declares: A Testimony by Antonio Tabucchi which has won the Aristeion Prize ...which is given by the European Council...which is centered in Brussels....so, I need to verify that this would be considered a Belgian Award?

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14231 comments If you want to switch a book from one task to another, you need to make a new post in the Completed Tasks thread. Let Kate know the book/author, but also the original post number and the task you want to switch it to, including any styles.

Aristeion Prize was awarded in both Glasgow and Weimar, so not Brussels.

I hadn't posted anything yet...just switching out from my plan. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't making another mistake with Ru in 10.1
Thanks for letting me know about the Aristeion Prize though.
Sorry for the confusion.

I have not read it. If not enough takes place in Vietnam and there are no sisters, it looks as if it is a Square Peg.

ok, I'm halfway through it...and it takes place in Canada with the MC flashing back to memories of Vietnam. No sisters yet..to the main character...but the MC has a set of aunts who are not prominent characters.

Anika | 2796 comments I'm planning to read Tevye the Dairyman by Shalom Aleichem for this task. The MPE is a volume that also contains The Railroad Stories which is not contained in the book I'll be getting from the library--and which would also disqualify it for 10.1 ("stories" would make it fit 10.3). Will I still be able to use this book for 10.1? If so, which edition should I reference in my post? Thank you!

UGH! Just realized after I posted this: Duh. Of course this is going to fit for sisters! So I'll just stick to my question about which edition I should reference in my post ;-)

When you get your book from the library, post in the librarian help thread and I'll make sure that edition is on Goodreads. If it includes only the main story, it shouldn't be combined with the others, so would be it's own MPE.

Rebekah (bekalynn) I think this will work for this task. I found a book with no 7 letter word or didn’t start with MEGAFINISH letters. That seemed to be the two main obstacles
1806: Settling the Cherokee Nation by D. Bruce Howell

Pub in 2015, non fiction, set in US, no sisters noted, although it may be criminal how the Supreme Court ruling was defied by Pres. Jackson and the hell of a hiking trip called The Trail of Tears was carried out, the book hasn’t a single rating yet.
And neither Bruce or Howell isn’t on the Civil War List
