Old Books, New Readers discussion

1984 - Week 1

I was running a bit behind schedule but caught up with week 1 last night. One thing that struck me was that the last time I read this book, it was the late 90's, when we only had dial up internet.
In the time since then we pretty much have Telescreens in our homes with smart appliances and Siri/Alexa. I think it will be hard to discuss this book without going a bit tinfoil hat.
There are many concepts/terms generally used that come from this novel: Big Brother, memory hole, thoughcrime, etc.
How is everyone finding the book so far?
