Stephanie | 46 comments I'll be joining once I finish The Calculating Stars. I loved greek mythology when I was younger. I'm interested in reading this one.

Ana (404-equivalent) | 7 comments I'm starting this one today to wrap up the fantasy category. I'm pretty excited about it, I've heard very good things about the book.

I like Greek mythology, though I wouldn't say I'm particularly well versed in it, so it will be interesting to see what else do I learn.

Lisa | 12 comments I’ve read this and loved it! One of my favourite books of 2018. It will be interesting to see what others think.

Jess (jmgofton) | 26 comments I started this one last night and I'm already a third of the way through it and really enjoying it so far! I love Madeline Miller's writing style. I think Fantasy is going to be a really tough category this year because I loved Foundryside, too, and I know the Book of the Ancestor series is so well-loved by so many people so I'm looking forward to seeing who ultimately wins!

ReadBecca (readxbecca) | 18 comments Very hyped that I just saw this hit the longlist for the Women's Prize this week also, it's been getting love absolutely everywhere! I'm 10th in the hold line, so here's to hoping it comes in with time to read this month, and looking forward to see what everyone thinks.

Jess (jmgofton) | 26 comments I finished Circe earlier this week and adored it! Madeline Miller's writing never fails to sweep me away to Ancient Greece. I'm so happy this book made the shortlist this year!

Lucinda So, I'd checked out Circe the other day and I ended up reading it in one sitting ^_^' Really loved it.

Stephanie | 46 comments Just started last night and I love the depiction of the gods. So capricious. Glad I’m nowhere near them (most of them, anyway).

Ana (404-equivalent) | 7 comments I'm 25% in right now and I'm really enjoying it. It feels almost unnatural for this to be in the same category with Grey Sister and Foundryside because the writing is so different. It doesn't feel like I'm reading a fantasy novel, but a literary fiction instead. It's so evocative.

The plot so far is great. I enjoy these quiet types of stories such as this one, centring on Circe and her thoughts and actions.

Gelisvb | 27 comments I 60% in and i love everything about it..I am reading with a smile on my face.I was so scared for the meeting with Odysseus, but it was handled so perfectly that i could not imagine anything better.

Shelby M. (Read and Find Out) (shelby-m-read-and-find-out) | 51 comments I'm starting this today! I've only read three pages but I'm already hooked. I loved The Song of Achilles, and I'm guessing that I may love Circe even more. I can't wait to keep reading!

Gelisvb | 27 comments Finished it on Saturday, Five stars.Loved it.

Stephanie | 46 comments Finished Circe, 5 stars for me. I'm always a sucker for books that explore how immortality affects relationships and the sense of time passing. Who doesn't want to be immortal? But wisher beware, there are some sobering tradeoffs.

I also liked the power aspect. That having ultimate power causes gods (and people) to lose their perspective on what has value - things, and unfortunately people - which is why the gods are so arbitrary and capricious.

That ending was perfect.

Jess (jmgofton) | 26 comments I still need to read Grey Sister (I still need to read Red Sister, actually!) and I loved Foundryside, but I have a feeling Circe will be getting my vote this year. I reviewed it here!

Agnes | 22 comments I still have to read ALL of them (Red sister included....) Should start Circe any day now.

Missy (missy_reading89) I don’t know exactly how I feel about this book. I went into it knowing very little of the original tale so I think some things were lost on me in the process because I wasn’t super familiar with Circe’s story.

This was definitely a compelling story because when I was reading it I wanted to know what was going to happen next but at the end I feel underwhelmed.

Yeah, I loved the book but I am not sure that I would have loved it as much if i did not know the original myth so well.because in the myth the ending is incredibly weird and too eye roll worthy( i don't think it that strange that the telegonia went lost) and I spent the whole book being afraid of the ending being faithful to that weird thing, but it is and she makes it so good!

Luminous_Monkey | 7 comments I just finished Circe, and I enjoyed it but found the plot a little hard to follow due to its rambling nature at times, having very little previous knowledge about the original Circe myth. The prose was beautiful, and I listened to the audiobook, and thought the narrator did a fantastic job at capturing the spirit of the book.

Linnea (robotmaria) | 45 comments I finished Circe earlier today and I'm sad to say it didn't click with me. It bored me quite a lot and I had to speed up the audio book to almost x2 the speed just to make it through (and it still took me like forever to read). I would not vote for this in the award, though to be fair I haven't read any of the other nominees, so I can't exactly compare and contrast.

Rebecca Lefler | 3 comments I also recently finished this book. I started it in audio but couldn’t get through it so I went and got it in book form. I did finish it but was not impressed. Not getting my vote.
