Fall 09/Winter 10' Challenge: Tasks, Questions, & Discussion

This is my first time in one, I post my list today (finally!) so just let me know if there is any mistake.

Thanks for the feedback! It's our first time doing it this way..so it's basically an experiment lol. I just feel like college students are very busy people and it might be a stretch to be competitive in a challenge where you only have like 3 months.

That's my goal too! To better than I did in the summer challenge! I sucked it up big time! lol

Sarah:
I will be happy to check a list for you if you type one up. To answer your questions:
-The Tao of Pooh will not work for that task as Pooh was actually created by AA Milne and also it needs to be about the person or a book by that person or pertaining to their expertise.
-For 5.6 it was really intended to be a drug/alcohol addiction as it says in the task that September is Drug/Alcohol Addiction Recovery month..so I'm going to say no to that one. If you need help finding one to work i could help you.
-Atonement will certainly work for 10.4. (I've really wanted to read this because I liked the movie)
- The Disney Encyclopedia is fine for 10.8
- I wasn't sure if The Kite Runner would be historical fiction but it seems to be categorized on a ton of shelves as such and I just did a search on it and it seems that one person says it's not historical fiction in the strictest sense but could be called that..so I'll take it..I'm sure you'll find some pretty interesting non-fiction to go with that considering the time frame of the book and the history in Afghanistan.

Kimberly: Basically how the challenge works is this: There are different tasks worth different point values. You choose where you wa..."
Ok, that makes sense. So do we need to get a certain amount of points, or does the person who gets the most win?
If anyone finishes it they win and get to pick a task for next challenge..that is..unless EVERYONE finishes it. lol. OR if nobody finishes..then whoever has the most points wins!

I'm leaving for work soon but I'll be happy to take a look when I get home tonight if Lori hasn't already taken a look through it for you.

Are we allowed to change our lists later, if we find a book we are more interested in reading for a particular challenge?
Also, how do you get the strikethrough to appear on a post? I have been copy-pasting my list form Microsoft Word and it doesn't copy the strike through when I try.
Thanks!

Yes. You are most certainly allowed to change them. I always do! :) And I see that Tahleen helped with the strikethrough question. THanks Tahleen! :)
Michelle: I don't know much about Coraline..but I trust Tahleen's answer..so you can use it! :)
Also, I looked at Flowers for Algernon and I didn't see anything about an alternate universe in the description of the book. (That doesn't mean there isn't)..I'm just not sure. Anyone know?
For the romance category we were looking for more of an actual romance novel..let me ask Lori what she thinks and I'll get back to you on that one.

I was just wondering, could a dog be considered a farm animal?

Paula: That works.
Tahleen: Not at all! You are fine! :)
Jacqueline: You know I thought about that as well. I mean..technically certain dogs are considered farm animals. We were going for more of what the list had (horse, cow, etc.) but since technically dogs and cats are considered farm animals I'll allow it.

This is so exciting!!
Paula: The Kurt Cobain one looks interesting!
What is book is everyone starting with?
I'm starting with The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser for part one of the library task.
