Once the reading challenge starts, you can come over here and share the first book you're reading! Maybe you'll find someone else reading the exact same one?

Have you finished a book? Tell us as well! Maybe even add some of your thoughts about the book. Did you enjoy it? Or didn't you?

What's going to be your next read?

Every small progress you make, you can share here! Even if you just want to talk about a huge event that just occurred and you need to shout about it for a bit.

Rita (anarittafp) Hello! I'm halfway through Little Fires Everywhere (leftover from last month) and I'm loving it but I want to savour it so I think I'm going to pause it and read the new Sandhya Menon's short story As Kismet Would Have It, so I can start catching up on my reading challenge!

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm 328 into The Way Of Kings by Brandon Sanderson(leftover from last month). I hope to finish the series in the next few weeks and get to my contemporary read for the month(Carousel Tides by Sharon Lee) next.

message 4: by Maysam (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) I just picked up my copy of Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire after finishing Agatha Christie’s Poirot Investigates - it was a really fun collection of short mysteries. So excited to dive into Harry Potter now.

Kelly | 146 comments So I'm doing the OWL's readathon at the same time and somehow have managed to fit some books from this into that one too. :) So I've started reading Save the Date, which I'm also reading for the Muggle Studies OWL.
This book is also my first by the author but I'm really enjoying it and it won't be my last.

It is genuinely hilarious. I wasn't expecting it to be quite so funny and I'm so engaged with the characters. Hope you enjoy it when you get to it. :)

message 8: by Maysam (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) Just finished The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West. That was fun and disappointing at the same time. Still haven’t made up my mind about whether I liked it more than not or vice versa.

message 9: by Olga (new)

Olga Zelenova | 4 comments I'm 146 pages into Maid Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive by Stephanie Land and it's an absolute delight. I'll probably finish it today or tomorrow.

message 10: by Taasia ✨ (new)

Taasia ✨ (libraepaintspages) | 4 comments I've just finished Imagine Us Happy by Jennifer Yu! It was really solid but super intense, so I wouldn't necessarily pick it up if you're not in a good headspace. But I think it was still really well done though!

message 11: by Caylynn (new)

Caylynn | 8 comments I'm on book 6!! So far it has been an equal hit or miss with the books I've gotten through. I'm currently listening to/reading (my first ever audiobook btw) Illuminae, and the story is amazing so far!

Rita (anarittafp) I finished Little Fires Everywhere yesterday and it was really good! I'm now starting What If It's Us on whim and I hope I enjoy it.

message 14: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 146 comments I finished Save the Date yesterday, added The Couple Next Door, which I've been meaning to read for a while and was a last minute decision and am going to start it tomorrow. Then I'm also starting The Astonishing Colour of After tomorrow.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished The Way Of Kings(book 1 of The Stormlight Archive) by Brandon Sanderson and started Words Of Radiance(book 2 of The Stormlight Archive) by Brandon Sanderson.

message 16: by Laia (new)

Laia Pérez (laiaisreading) (laiaisreading) So, I just finished Never Let Me Go and I have... no words, really.
It's the second book I read from my TBR for this month, and I really excited to write that I'll probably read another book from Ishiguro pretty soon!

Save the Date is so good--Morgan Matson is one of my absolute favorite YA authors!

Summer (speaking_bookish) (speaking_bookish) | 59 comments over the last couple of days I have finished The Wicked King and Changeless and gave both 5 stars. Changeless is a reread and I'm confident I'll always give it 5 stars including mostly everything else Gail Carriger writes because she's amazing! I haven't started any of my contemporary books yet but I will once I finish Vicious. I'll probably start with Jack of Hearts because I've been dying to read it! hope everyone is doing well on their quest to diminish their TBR piles 😎🤞🏻

I finished it at the weekend and loved it! :) I'm definitely going to check out her other books at some point too.

I've only read Any and Roger's Epic Detour ad Since You've Been Gone so far and they were not faves but i really enjoy her writing style. I'm glad you both loved Save the Date, leaves me very hopeful I'll find a favourite Morgan Matson book!!

message 21: by Caylynn (new)

Caylynn | 8 comments I just finished The Red Scrolls of Magic earlier this morning, and it was INCREDIBLE!! Honestly might be tied with Clockwork Prince as my favorite Shadowhunter novel.

I'm starting Red Rising now, which is also my 13th book of the month! Hoping to enjoy it, since it's gotten so much hype in a few of my reading groups on FB over the last few years.

message 22: by Summer (last edited Apr 11, 2019 07:13PM) (new)

Summer (speaking_bookish) (speaking_bookish) | 59 comments finally finished My Favorite Thing Is Monsters, Vol. 1. I've been working on it over the last month or so. It is technically a contemporary (view spoiler) (not sure if that bit of info is really a spoiler or not but just to be safe..) the book is really a masterfully illustrated graphic novel with a mystery as the main plot line. It was absolutely fantastic! If you are someone who enjoys graphic novels I encourage you to pick this up and give it a try...My Favorite Thing Is Monsters, Vol. 2 doesn't release until late next year.. that wait is going to be a real killer! I share a spread from the book on my instagram stories if you want to see what the artwork is like!

I hope to get to What If It's Us this month also... I haven't heard the best things about it but I still want to give it a shot. I hope you'll let us know what you thought of it when you're done. ☺️

Fafa's Book Corner (fafasbookcorner) Just finished my first book which was Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun Volume 2. It was so good! I’m not sure what else I’ll be able to get to. Let’s see.

Good luck to everyone else!

message 25: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 146 comments I've started The Astonishing Colour of After yesterday and am a good chunk through that. It's interesting, though it might take longer than I thought, given some of the subject matter. But I quite like it so far.

I also finished a reread I was doing as well, not part of this month's challenge.

message 26: by Summer (new)

Summer (speaking_bookish) (speaking_bookish) | 59 comments I finished When the Moon Was Ours today and it was a really beautiful story. Anna-Marie McLemore has a real gift with words. I don't normally lean towards really flowery writing chock full of metaphors but she does it in a way that really works and it fits well with her fairy tale type way of storytelling as well. The discussions this book will open are very important and teach us that we should be more accepting of others for who they are and not what they look like or identify as. 4/5⭐️

message 27: by Laia (new)

Laia Pérez (laiaisreading) (laiaisreading) Just finished A Man Called Ove and it has been AMAZING
I can't remember crying with any other recently read book like this one.

message 28: by Maysam (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) I’m nearly done with Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire and honestly it’s so good. Although it’s nothing compared to The Prisoner Of Azkaban, it still has me on the edge of my seat. Only 130 pages more to go!

message 29: by Rita (new)

Rita (anarittafp) Summer wrote: "I hope to get to What If It's Us this month also... I haven't heard the best things about it but I still want to give it a shot. I hope you'll let us know what you thought of it when you're done. ☺️

I have heard mixed things as well. I'm not very far into it right now but so far it's going very slowly for me. I thought it would be more fast-paced like a rom-com. But it's not bad!

message 30: by Summer (new)

Summer (speaking_bookish) (speaking_bookish) | 59 comments finally finished Vicious by V.E. Schwab and loved it! I can't wait to get to the sequel but need to focus on the books for the O.W.L.S. Magical Readathon first. but as soon as I get a chance I'll be reading Vengeful. I also recently finished Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor and have moved on to the sequel Days of Blood & Starlight. These are rereads for me but I'm reading them for the DOSAB Readalong! hope all is going well for all of you and I'll check in again soon. 😎

message 31: by Shala (new)

Shala I've read one contemporary that was also a cozy mystery so far.

Peril at the Pawn Shop

message 32: by Summer (new)

Summer (speaking_bookish) (speaking_bookish) | 59 comments Tonight I finished Jack of Hearts and quite liked it. I think under different circumstances it would have been a 3 star read for me but I gave it 4 stars in the end. As an established author, Lev A.C. Rosen took a bit of a risk writing a YA novel with such controversial content. I also found the information in the book to be very important and necessary to all teens, not just teens in the LGBTQ+ community. Adults even. it was quite eye-opening to the type of obstacles that queer people have to deal with everyday just for being themselves. I loved the main character's voice and the strong friendships as well. All in all a good read and one that I learned quite a bit from which is always a good thing! I'm going to start Circe next.

message 33: by Amy (new)

Amy (nonfictionfeminist) | 14 comments I had planned to read all my High Plains Book Award reads from last year, but all my holds at the library started coming in at once, and I ended up going Moody May early! Contemporapril will just have to wait until next month, I guess?

message 34: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) I haven't finished anything and it's 24th already! I'm going to finish something contemporary until the end of the month.

message 35: by Summer (new)

Summer (speaking_bookish) (speaking_bookish) | 59 comments Today I completed my reread of City of Fallen Angels. I'm rereading this whole series in preparation for the last few books I haven't read yet and also Chain of Gold that comes out at the end of this year.. I'm so excited for that book! I also started Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. I'm only a few chapters in but need to finish it before the end of the month for the O.W.L.S. Magical readathon. I'll update more later. Hope everyone is hitting their reading goals for the month!😎

message 36: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 146 comments I'm also done with A Curse So Dark and Lonely because it's all I've been reading since I started it. :D I'm also really close to finishing The Astonishing Colour of After too, though that's been a few days because of life and it's a book that need to take my time with anyway.
The final book on my list this month is The Hazel Wood, which I admit I'm starting to struggle with. Hopefully I won't have to DNF it.

message 37: by Cathrine (new)

Cathrine I only read one book for the challenge yet, which was Our Own Private Universe. I really liked it, and I'm very happy I finally read it.

I'm planning to read The Art of Being Normal soon, but I'm reading another book for another bookclub first, so it'll probably be stretched into May

message 38: by Summer (new)

Summer (speaking_bookish) (speaking_bookish) | 59 comments I finished Circe by Madeline Miller and it was an amazing book. Definitely worth all the hype!

message 39: by Aymee (new)

Aymee (asphaltcowgrrl) | 53 comments I managed to finish three books this month. And possibly another by tomorrow. HOORAY!

message 40: by Laia (new)

Laia Pérez (laiaisreading) (laiaisreading) Tomorrow it's the last day of April, and I only have crossed off 3 books of my TBR. Still, I enjoyed every one of them and turns out that where the oldest one in the pile, but I don't feel accomplished, not truly at least.

message 41: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 146 comments I've finished April with having read eight books, I think. I loved all of them apart from The Hazel Wood, which I finished today and I'm really disappointed by. However, that's still a great reading month for me. :)

message 42: by A Robin Reads (new)

A Robin Reads (arobinreads) @Cathrine I loved The art of being normal! Excited to read what you think of it. Have fun!

message 43: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) I just finished the only book I read this month, which is also a YA mystery romance. Also, this was a second read for me. I'm talking about Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars, #1) by Sara Shepard Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard.

Fafa's Book Corner (fafasbookcorner) I was able to read two books. And I DNFed one due to the e-arc format. All in all, I’m satisfied with my reads this month.

Good luck to everyone else!
