Alysa H. | 3840 comments For #9 Read a book with green text on the cover

I assume that as long as there is some green text, it's fine, right?
Like, there can be other colors of text too, as long as there is some green text (according to tin eye)?

message 552: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments And for #16 Read a book thats title start with a number

Can the number be spelled out, or does it have to be digits?

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Does a ball count for going to a dance?

oh and for the mac and cheese task: does it specifically have to say that someone is eating mac and cheese-or does a group of people eating a meal in which macaroni and cheese is a component count?

It you go to your book on amazon, click on the paperback version and scroll down to Product Details, it will show the shipping weight

Duh I did not scroll down far enough

message 557: by Maddy (new)

Maddy | 2127 comments I apologize if this is a repeat question. I think I saw the answer like a month ago, but can't find it again.
If I remember correctly, then we can message someone to add books read on May 21 if the sheet locked before we managed to enter it? Could you please remind me who that person was? Thank you :)

I was going to ask the same questions because I routinely stay up to midnight EST reading and I might finish my book before the timer runs out.

message 559: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments Last month the sheets were accidentally locked early I believe which led to them helping add things but this month Laura posted there won't be anymore added after locked in this post.

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I know by the master goals faq that for "Read a book thats title start with a number (can be spelled out)" we can spell out the number, but can we still drop 'The' or similar first word?

Tina | 97 comments Task 3: Read a book with the letters ʺehʺ in the title, can the letters be in any order? Like in Paper Hearts?

Tina wrote: "Task 3: Read a book with the letters ʺehʺ in the title, can the letters be in any order? Like in Paper Hearts?"

No, Laura said they must be in that order, though not necessarily in the same word (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...)

message 566: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12885 comments I found the easiest way to find a book for "eh" was to look for a title with "The" followed by a word starting with "H" :)

For example: The Hunger Games
Man of the Hour
Where the Heart Is

etc.

No, it's because you put another column in your personal tracker, but I've sorted it.

Please, please don't add columns before the point/task tracker blocks, as it messes with the formulas something chronic!

message 569: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know that it really matters because I got them from the Master sheet, but my "Month 3 Tasks" tab is just another blank tracker with the incorrect reader category information in it.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Also, in order for the May Bonus points to show up in the points column of my personal tracker I had to change the formula to read "May" instead of "April" - just in case anyone else has that problem.

message 570: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) oh so eh needs to be intact like in Sammy's example. I interpreted it differently and was doing it like Tina asked with the e in paper then the h I hearts. I'll have to go back to the drawing board then. thanks

message 571: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10098 comments Mod
I had assumed intact (otherwise is it really worth 100pts), but will wait for Laura to weigh in.

Tina, to my reading and in line with my assumptions, was asking if the HEarts was ok (with the EH reversed) which isn't OK.
I didn't consider the papEr Hearts version of EH.

Google was misbehaving when we tried to get the sheets out. I can add the tasks to your sheet - and anyone else shout out if you need them!

message 573: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I found some with EH intact so either way I'm good. I think you're right though Cat in it needing to be intact. Thanks!

message 574: by Tina (new)

Tina | 97 comments Me neither! I totally missed the E in PapEr:) We'll se what Laura says, maybe there's still hope for my book!

message 575: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments Eh words...

Behave
Behaving
Behavior
Behold
Beholder
Behind
Behead
Behoove
Behalf
Behest
Warehouse
and so on....

message 576: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Sammy, that's how I found my "eh" book too.

message 577: by Mary X (last edited May 22, 2019 05:33AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments It was said in an earlier post that the e and the h could be in 2 separate words. (post 495). I took that to mean that a word would have to end in "e" and the next word start with "h".

eta: I totally feel like an idiot now because not one of the words in Carrie's example list occurred to me yesterday and they are so obvious.

Laura | 9707 comments Cyndee wrote: "I don't know that it really matters because I got them from the Master sheet, but my "Month 3 Tasks" tab is just another blank tracker with the incorrect reader category information in it.

Yes, when we set up the Month 3 sheets we forgot to change that formula; its too time consuming to go in and change each one now( unfortunately we don't have time to do that) so players can either change the formula as Cyndee did above or you can manually add the bonus points yourself if you don't want to change the formula.

message 579: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments EH task...
All of Carrie's examples work, Sammy's as well
Tina's example works also because of the first e in "Paper".

I'm okay if the letters are found in different words of the title as long as they aren't reversed.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I think my question was missed: for the mac and cheese task: does there have to be a specific quote of "eating mac and cheese" or does a group of people eating a meal together that includes macaroni and cheese count?

and does a "ball" count as a dance in a historical?

message 587: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Laura wrote: "Plethora checked the FAQ's and then her question was answered. ..."

Thanks! I had checked FAQ too, but Task #110 specifies that "the [number in the] title (can be spelled out)" whereas Task #16 does not, and since the latter is worth more points I thought maybe the rule would be stricter.

"No trick question; that's the task."

LAURA YOU ARE A GODDESS.

There's a formula issue, spotted too late to correct magically.

If you are comfortable with spreadsheet formulas you can fix it yourself (in the points cell change the "April" to "May"), or let us know if you want us to fix (if you could post your sheet link that would be super helpful to find your sheet quick!)

Yes, sorry it was missed.
Since its a 100 pt question and someone did find the quote in a book I'm going to say specific quote ( especially as the bonus question is an easy one)

Read a book where characters go to a dance; no specifically looking for the word dance
Thanks for the idea for another task:-)

message 595: by Mary X (last edited May 24, 2019 10:59AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Ugh. I already read half the book. They do dance in the book. In fact he says "may I have this dance" or something like that and then they waltz. (He also asks another lady to dance). And the word "dance" is mentioned 21 times in the book.

eta: I see another player using a masquerade party for this task so...,

(trolling for mac and cheese books)

Does the book need to say "going to a dance" or "went to a dance"

message 596: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments Maybe you could give them a pm and politely tell them their book won't work for the task.

message 597: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Should I message the person using "prom" too?

My book says dance in it, btw. "did you enjoy your dance". The word is actually in the book 21 times.

message 598: by [deleted user] (new)

Just found out that Loving the White Liar by Kate Stewart has a scene where they're eating mac & cheese ;)

Sure if you want to ;
The task isn't looking for characters going to a ball or a prom nor is the task looking for the word dance in the text it is looking for characters specifically going to a dance
