will the NBRC Back Room Perfect Formation count for task #1: Read a book that is a NBRC June 2019 Book of the Month and volunteer to write discussion questions

If I wanted to read a book for a task, which is normally released as a single (+/- 200 page) novel, but I only have in a large hardback compilation alongside several other novels, would I be able to read just that one, or would I need to read all the novels combined?

I'd like to read The First Men in the Moon by H.G. Wells, but I have it only in this compilation, and I've read the others recently:

My advice would be to shelve the book you are reading (the single book) rather than the anthology. Not just for the sake of this challenge, but also because it will change your reading stats for the year if you shelve the anthology and just read one book.

If you are a stickler for shelving your physical book, then you would need to read all six novels of that book

I tried to log my May Bonus Book a couple of time in the last 24 hours, and it won't apply the points. I tried changing the Task Number to, well, a number and that worked so it's not my spreadsheet. But when I put it back to the Bonus, all points went away.
Advice?

Thanks. I was hoping to use it for the scarlet and gold task, but I'll save it until after the challenge in that case. Don't fancy reading six novels for one task! Especially a 50 point one, lol.

Hi Mods, when I put in the May Bonus task, it's not populating any points for me. Not sure if there's something wrong in the formula, please help.

Also for Task 11 - Read a where a character is an actor. Can it also be an actress? or is it only a male?

Actress is also fine for that task. I'm on the app so if no one gets to it before me I'll fix it when I get home.

For anyone else who hasn't been following the thread, there is a formula error.

You can either:
- Change the formula if you are comfortable in doing so
- Manually enter 250 points
- Post here and we can change your formula for you

For task 6: book set in boarding school - what are you classing as a boarding school? Could a university that characters live at count?

We produced some example titles (poss in the cocktail lounge?), the consensus being that it had to be a school, not university. That said, the story could focus on the adults at the school...

Well considering Mods are not letting people use Prom or a ball (in a historical), it doesn’t seem like a wedding would count...

I'm having this issue too - mine is showing that I'm at the Sapling category, when I should be in Leaf. I was able to fix the bonus points formula, but not exactly sure how this one works and don't want to screw it up.

Re: "Book Read" category on your May/June task tab showing Sapling

For some reason it looks like the formula didn't carry over in the copying.
This is just a cue for the player - it isn't used to determine anything else. The actual standings and categories are taken from the master spreadsheet.
So no need to be concerned if yours is showing as Sapling :)
We can change it for you if it does drive you bonkers though

I had that problem as well Karen so I hope it was ok that I fixed it because yes my OCD was driving me nuts. LOL

I'm just curious is there going to be another round of this? I've read more books this year so far because this is so wonderfully motivating. I love it.

Kayla, we are very happy to hear that our challenge was able to motivate you to read more books.

We are currently hosting a team challenge that runs until August 9 and a new challenge is in the works so another round of this isn't in the cards right now. Though who knows what will happen in the fall/winter?
