Roz (irasobrietate) Two quick questions

1) Can my category be changed from Leaf to Bloom? I read more than I thought I would (and fingers crossed I'll keep that up for two more months!)

2) For the "character has lost one of their senses" task, would the Mistborn series work? One of the characters becomes an Inquisitor, which means they have metal spikes through their eyes. They can't see anymore, though the spikes do allow them to use magic to sense their surroundings. Since they've lost a traditional sense, does it count for the challenge, even if it's made up for with magic?

Yes, we will change you from Leaf to Bloom.
This was Karen's original task so lets wait until she weighs in for this answer.

Marissa | 189 comments As I was entering in my books to the spreadsheet, it reached midnight, and the tab locked. I have the book titles and dates in, but while I was checking the tasks, it locked. Is there anyway I can add in those points? I didn't realize it closed right at 12 AM as the first month said it went until April 21, not to 11:59 PM of April 20 :(

Huh, that’s weird! I haven’t edited since midnight (EST) anyway but the countdown clock still says there are 7.5 more hours. :/

Marissa sorry I didn't check the countdown clock before I went in to lock the April/May tab. ( Ugh... check clock first. Rookie mistake. You have editing rights now. Go back in and edit)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12885 comments I can't make heads nor tails of when a book will qualify for the red & white task or not, lol.
I finally found the tineye you're all talking about (at first I was just getting reverse image search things, and couldn't for the life of me figure out how that would help, lol), and I am struggling to find the difference between ones that have been approved and turned down.
Any more guidance? As I've spent far, FAR too long on trying to find something, and I'm losing the will to live :D

Roz (irasobrietate) The mods are probably sick of this question but more red and white cover clarifications! I'm mostly confused because sometimes the color name will be Lily White but it's in the gray family or Half Dutch White but it's in the brown family and I'm not sure how strict y'all are about those distinctions.

I looked at who died in 2019 who are authors there where 3 so far this year in 2019. All write either children's book or poems which I do not think qualify for this challenge.

One person was the creator of paper back books with her husband. the author you mentioned who wrote star trek novels and then one who wrote futuristic novels. Betty Ballantine who created the Bantom and Bellantine paper back books. Could we read one of the bantom and bellantine paperback books then even though she was not the author.

message 382: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments There’s a pretty exhaustive list on Wikipedia of authors/book people who died, by year.
Besides Vonda McIntyre, there’s also Gene Wolfe and Warren Adler, among others.

message 383: by Mary X (last edited Apr 21, 2019 01:17PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments It's slim pickings for the author's dead in 2019 with it being only April. Rosamunde Pilcher died. (I am personally not into her type of romance) I saw lots of poets as well.

The only wikipedia list I found had lots of non-authors on the list.

If anyone is a fan of the movie Argo, Antonio J. Méndez (Ben Affleck played him) died and he wrote several books including Argo.

https://www.fantasticfiction.com/year...

Several poets, a couple of sci-fi writers, a couple of spy novel type and I think I saw a mystery writer on this.

Thank you everyone for being so patient today while we spent Easter holidays with our families and friends instead of on Goodreads answering your questions!

We will get back to answering those red cover tasks ( and the other ones) tomorrow:-)

Winners for Month 1 will be posted in the next couple of days while we finalize s/sheets.

Cheryl | 910 comments I have sent a message to the Mods about my receiving credit for task #1 for Month #1's tasks. I tried to enter in the completion date of the 20th onto my spreadsheet, but the thread was already locked...earlier than I though it would be. Could you all please give me credit for having completed the task. I did do it in time and you can see that I did questions on the BOM. I will not press up to the deadline for the remainder of the challenge since I am not sure of which time zone is involved for the close. Thanks for your help and hope that you had a wonderful Easter holiday!

Red and white cover questions

* The red and white cover is to represent the Canadian Flag which is only red and white so no other colors are allowed for this task.
* If you are unsure of if the cover is red and white, you can use Tin Eye to check

If posting in this thread for confirmation of a cover, please post specifying why you are asking.
Because it has a colour other than red or white on the cover? Then no, it doesn't count.
Are you unsure if the colour is red? Check tineye. Do you disagree with tineye? Post here and tell us why

It will be much quicker and more helpful for the mods for you to post the cover AND why you are asking about it.
