(tineye says it has pink and gray in it, but the cover is completely red and white dots, which create the illusion of other colors when they're small)

(Tineye says this is 100% red, which can't be right, because the title is white. But it's such a small amount I guess it's not processing?)

Thank you.

Thought I’d mention it, just in case. :)"
Yes, I did.
I rechecked the approved ones and unchecked "Exclude background color from extracted colors". Still more than red and white colors listed.

This is why I couldn't figure out the rules for what is and isn't suitable. I've given up, lol. I've decided to actually read stuff I want to read right now, rather than read stuff I don't to fit into a task :)

Glad you asked this because I was considering this book and didn't even think about it being excluded due to the plural in the description!

So we know tin eye isn’t perfect - we’ve given it as an option for if you are not sure if something is red (some browns and pinks can be iffy, for example) to check what it says

Yes these are both fine, Karen. I guess this is an example of what I just posted. Like I look at these covers and they are obviously red and white so I wouldn’t check tin -eye for them. Whereas a book posted above like “schooled” is not obviously red to me. I see pink and even a teeny bit of orange on my phone. So that’s the kind of book I would be checking with tin-eye

Not for this one, no ; its a 100 pt task.

See the answer for the last question asked regarding this task.

Re Shakespeare name (single main character vs 1 of 2 main characters)...
Thanks!

Is this 3 consonants or vowels together? Or just a three letter title? The way I read this, pretty much anything could work.

I think this means the 3 letters show up consecutively in the alphabet. So something like "hijack" in the title because H-I-J are consecutive in the alphabet.

Oh! That totally makes sense. Thanks! I was so confused.

Thank you! Not sure if I will use my particular book for that or for another task, but good to know it works.
Because I have a whole cascading chain of "actually-fits-more-than-one-task" books that will be placed based on where I ultimately stick this one ;D

and

They both don't pass according to Tineye but to in front of me, they look red and white (or white and red as the first may be). The second one I know looks doubtful but I've got the book in my hands and it's a dark red cover with red and white writing on it.
Are these okay to mods' eyes or is my wishful thinking getting in the way?

Ah I was hopeful about Book 2. Oh well. Thanks for the answer :)

Can we use word count instead of pages when a book has no page count? If so, what's the minimum?

P.S. I'm also glad I read through this thread, because I was using Nick Paris as my Shakespeare character - both his first and last name are on the list - but I went to the link and clicked "N" and "P" to search. Learned it's just A-K so back to the drawing board. But I was pretty happy about my double name for a week or so :)

No, that won't work. The diamonds are on the Avon logo not the book cover. If there was no Avon logo there would be no diamonds on the cover.

Suzanne,
Yes, to your green book for the diamonds task and save that other book for Month 3... *it may come in handy*

Didn't forget your question Brooklyn; conferring with the other mods isn't always as quick as we would like... time zones!

No"
Thanks

Our minimum page count is 100 pages ( found in the FAQ's) which means if there is no page count then the book won't count. Post your book here and a librarian can add from an acceptable source.

Also can I just confirm that the RCMP task - the letters found in the title, can they be in any order? As long as all four of those letters are in title?
Thank you :)
I'm not going to comment on the star/diamond covers, but yes, the RCMP can be found in any order

Read a book with diamonds on the cover or with a night sky that looks like diamonds?
Especially for Night sky that looks like diamonds

The mods have conferred and say yes to #1 and #3 but no to #2 and #4 (not convinced that the background is sky rather than just pretty background)

which also means, Tina, that this will probably not pass - is it the sky? or a black background with gold dust?

Read a book shelved [...] as modern - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
Can it be "modern-lit" or is that not a minor enough variation?

Oh yay, thanks!
I read Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris for the fashion designer task, because part of the book are literally set in the House of Dior... but it turns out that there aren't any named designers!!!! FFS!!! Named characters include a saleswoman/floor manager, a fashion model, and a money man. Christian Dior is present only obliquely, very much in the background, so I don't think it counts. Boo.
I've been trying to figure out where else I could stick this book; "Modern-Lit" is the one 50-Point possibility :D

I might read Guilty Pleasures. I think I read it before and didn't like it but I could be mistaking it for another book.
