Book One Description: As an assassin of the Lifeless League, there are two rules I live by:

1. Never kill another hunter.

2. Obey orders.

When I find that my newest set of targets are branded with the Mark of the Hunter, I don’t know who I can trust anymore. I can’t take their lives without knowing why these mysterious men turned their backs on the League.

A choice will have to be made eventually. Even if they refuse to make anything easy for me. The four brooding ex-assassins give me trials, training, and tests to study my unusual powers and prove myself as one of them. A deadly plan is now in place but they’ve all made one grave mistake: Underestimating me. Because I’m adding a third and final rule to my list:

3. Survive.

Tiera, go ahead and start book 2! I've finished book one, but couldn't post my comments while on my trip :( I'll do it as soon as I get home. I plan to start book 2 myself while my husband drives.

But now that she's read that Armond planned to kill her, I'm pretty sure she will actually commit herself to be part of their team. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 18 (51%) - (view spoiler)[ I like that she really isn't using these new gifts she is acquiring for selfish reasons. She manages to keep things in check - even at the convenience store, she could have gone crazy and bought a bunch of stuff, but she only got the burn treatment stuff. Ch 24 (75%) - (view spoiler)[ I'm still confused why she doesn't have any money but she was considered one of Armonds best assassins before this job. I suppose it was just one more way he could control her. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ Hmm, so will the next book explain how Derek and Armond "created" their weapon aka her? Also, how did she give Rory's power back to him? She sucked everything out of Armond and collapsed, but when Tylin went into her head to wake her up, Rory was fine with his powers back? I am probably just analyzing it too closely.

I liked this book! It's just different enough from other RHs - I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure which guy is my favorite yet since they all have characteristics that I like. It's funny though, the image I have in my head of what Jameson looks/behaves like doesn't fit with a guy with monster dick. LOL. I'm sure I'll get over it. (hide spoiler)]

Finished - I love Rory too. (view spoiler)[ I'm glad this book let us get to know the guys better, but I really thought Derek's revelation as her father was a little ridiculous. Especially since he thought that his DNA meant that he owned her. Just yuck. I totally don't think he is dead, and I don't think her mom is either. But, I guess we will have to see it all come out in future books. (hide spoiler)]

Why is there so much of Scarlet's story here and not enough of Alexa's? I'll tell you why... to drag this out farther than it needs to be. If the author had just put Scarlet's story in a separate series and just added what little of Alexa's story is actually in here onto the last book we wouldn't have even had a 3rd book here... Honestly I feel like this book was just dragging out the story to a very anticlimactic ending. It seemed like, rather than having things really happening that were pertinent to the characters here the author was too busy trying to set up spin offs? I mean Scarlet is going to have her own story right? There are a ton of left over questions there. Also a ton of Questions left over about Archer. I think I'm just disappointed with the ending here. Ch 17 - (view spoiler)[ can't say I'm surprised that Tylin was attacked. I figured that there would be some kind of action taken by the assassins that took over from Derek, etc. I'm sure he will pull through. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ Yep, we called it, Derek wasn't dead - but let's hope he is now. Was it just me or was that whole ending a bit along the lines of "and she woke up and it was all a dream". I mean one minute she is literally about to blow up and sacrifice herself to save them, and the next she is arguing with them in the kitchen like nothing happened. That was a little irritating. And the guys were ok with Mason healing her? Meh, the ending ruined it for me. We spent how many pages preparing their anti-league and shacking up with everyone, and the final standoff with Derek took one chapter. I think I'm done, which is sad because I like the guys, and I like the idea of the assassins trying to do good instead of harm, but I'm not getting that storyline and what I am getting is just ridiculous.
