Jamie Bee | 0 comments I have been an avid reader of most fiction genres for over 40 years, with romance (especially Regency, Highlander, and medieval romance), cozy mysteries, thrillers, fantasy, and paranormal being my favorite genres and subgenres. I have professionally proofread and copyedited for utility companies and medical institutions as well as freelance writers for over thirty years. I've also published four cookbooks on Amazon. Now wanting to step away from corporate America permanently, I want to expand my freelance business.

I have both READING and EDITING services, which you can learn about in more detail at my website: https://www.read-edit-write.com.

I am comfortable working with both American English and British English.

BETA READING
For fiction, I beta read just romance at this time as well as books with a strong romantic component. I specialize simply because this is my favorite genre and the one in which I'm most well read. I will make inline comments in your Word document (preferred) as well as provide a detailed 3000- to 5000-word analysis of the elements of fiction (character, plot including plot holes, pacing, setting, etc.). I discuss what is working . . . and what isn't, offering suggestions or ideas for you to think about.

For nonfiction, I beta read cookbooks, business books, and anything health related, as I've been a registered nurse. I'll look at the structure of your book and how well you've fulfilled your implied promise.

I offer other reading services as well: alpha reading and manuscript evaluation.

EDITING
My editing philosophy is simple: We, author and editor, collaborate to bring the best version of your work to the public. We both ultimately serve the future reader.

Because the basic rules of grammar, punctuation, and usage apply equally to any writing, I proofread, copyedit, and line edit all fiction and nonfiction. Of course, I am willing to work with your stylistic preferences as well as genre or topic expectations.

I work in Word using the Track Changes feature and will deliver an annotated copy as well as a clean one (if desired). For copyediting or line editing, I will also send along a style sheet that will show the stylistic choices I have made as well as characters, settings, etc., that I'm watching for consistency.

Whether or not you choose to use my services, surf my site for guides, articles, and posts about self-editing, preparing for professional editing, and getting more book reviews. I'd love it if you'd subscribe to my newsletter or follow my blog (or both).

I would love to talk about your project with you! Feel free to PM me here or use one of the contact forms at my website.

I hope to work with you soon!

Jamie B
