I noticed that as well. There was one month where they had posted a month early (like put up September 2018's list in August) and they haven't posted any new ones since!
It would be fun if Goodreads could somehow formulate data that would allow them to have the highest-rated books that month or the most "read".
I know the old lists had been based on "votes" and we know those tend not to be accurate.

I've been noticing on Goodreads blog posts that they have been posting most popular books in the genres... I read an article of The Most Popular Historical Fiction Novels of the Last 5 Years, and it was calculated by analyzing member ratings and how many people added it to their TBR. Not perfect, but probably a better indication of the "best books" than what was done before.

Oh yes, definitely! That's not bad at all. Especially since it's saying Most Popular rather than "Best".
