The last read of 2019 will be from Central Africa (as defined by the UN geoscheme)

Nominate great reads from any of these countries:
Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, São Tomé and Príncipe.

Try to keep nominations to one pr. person - and you're welcome to second someone else's nomination - depending on the votes we will be reading two of the group choices in Jan/Feb.

Our last choices from this region are not eligible in this round:
Tram 83 by Fiston Mwanza Mujila
King Leopold's Ghost by Adam Hochschild
The Book of Chameleons by José Eduardo Agualusa
Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue
Your Madness, Not Mine: Stories of Cameroon by Makuchi
(but the threads are open if you want to read and discuss those titles)

Authors! Please note : We have decided to not allow selv-nomination - but if you are an author and would like to promote your book, please feel free to do so in this folder. Thank you for your understanding!

Making Sense of the Central African Republic-- I will just continue nominating this book year after year until I finally force myself to open and read it!

I read it last year and enjoyed it - it is not the most fluid read I but thought it was very interesting. Looking forward to hear what you both think of it when you've read it!

Haha - that's the spirit! If it doesn't win the poll, there's potential for a buddy read, it seems :)

The votes are in: Transparent City got the most votes - however there was almost as much interest in reading Heart of Darkness, and since it's a short read - I've added both books to be read in Nov/Dec hope you'll all join us!

message 18: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (valroos) | 321 comments Am excited about reading Transparent City! Will probably only join in for this book though as my TBR for Nov-Dec is already pretty long.

Great to hear Valerie! I intend to read that one as well :)
I read Conrad recently, so I'll leave that to others, this time around...
