Omg! I loved this book! I am one of those people who fell in love with Maven. Curse his stupid mother. I expected her to find out about the Scarlet Guard way sooner, but when Maven betrayed Mare everything made sense.

As much as I hated Maven for betraying everyone, I loved the plot. I cringed when Mare asked Maven to help her up. The way she said felt so cheesy, but it was still good. Cal's love for Mare felt super obvious and at first I thought they would get together. Suprise! Nope!
Overall....good book.

I did not expect a comment here and I didn't expect to find this either. I love Maven! I'm so obsessed with him. Yes, that betrayal was so good. Loved that whole scene.

Yes, and he just looked at her. That was so intense. I remember that part vividly. The initial relief that Mare felt when she realised that his mother would save him, and then the horrible realisation that he wasn't with her. I shipped her with Cal in the beginning, but then Maven just stole my heart with his awesome act and I wanted her to be with him, and then bam!
