Well, I guess we are probably all nearly to the end if not already there. A quick read for me since I've read it a number of times. (I felt that after a few less than interesting, to me, books, I deserved a comfort food sort of book!)

This is the book I recommend to people who are new to Christie. Its solution is not as widely known as Orient Express or Ten Little Indians, but still one of the more spectacular ones.

84 years after publication it is still a stunner!

It was like visiting an old friend, Pghfan. A trusted old friend. It had me dig out a few episodes and watch them. Clapham Cook for one.

Some of Suchet's expressions. Like when Hastings sees a pretty woman and follows her in a stare. Poirot gives him a look. lol He nails it!

It is the humble opinion, of this particular Parlor PI, that we read at least a couple of Christie's a year! :D

Totally on board with that!

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I loved how I was still surprised at the end even though I had read it before. I knew that the other murders were committed just to derail the police from the "important" murder but I had forgotten which suspect planned it all. The poor pantyhose salesman was who I suspected at first but then I thought, "no, it can't be him"!!!

The stocking salesman was my first choice as well. Then I thought, too obvious. So, that's crime detection in armchair detective land. Would not work in the real world. lol

I love how everyone was dragged into the stocking salesman thing and then the tables were turned! Psychology solved this one again!

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Yeah, he was too obvious but the most logical suspect!

LovesMysteries | 327 comments Does anyone notice while reading the book that the term "serial killer" isn't mentioned. This word was coined many years later but essentially Christie wrote the serial killer novel, before this kind of niche in the mystery genre became so popular.

I hadn't thought about that, but you are right!

Neither had I. Clever catch, LM.
