Several years ago I started reading a certain book that for some reason I ended up putting away after the first chapter or so. A while afterwards I randomly recalled the opening few pages, and it sounded interesting to me but for the LIFE of me I can't recall the name, the author, or find it anywhere! Maybe someone can help?
It's a paperback novel, a crime mystery I believe. All I remember is the opening scene, where a guy kills someone in broad daylight in a McDonald's or something, then takes off. Two off-duty cops follow him and corner him in a warehouse. One of the cops, a woman, tries to talk him down but he's just yelling nonsense UNTIL she realizes he's only talking in titles of Elvis Presley songs. She starts using Elvis Presley song titles now to communicate, and it almost gets him out but he then says "Don't be Cruel" and kills himself.
Again I have no idea why I put this away but can anyone help me find it?
