Apropos of very little, I wrote a message on FB to Goat Roper Rodeo, a band from North Wales who play a rowdy type of Americana, asking if their new album would be available at their gig supporting and backing Hannah Aldridge last week. They answered in the affirmative and ended the message with "Yee haw" which seemed unnecessarily kitsch?

Perhaps it's Welsh? 🤔

Rather predictably then, a bit of a mixed reaction for Dwight Yoakam.

A clear result though, out front and snaffling the gold, Brass Neck with Guitars, Cadillacs. Beating off the pack to grab second spot, Val herself with Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room (She Wore Red Dresses). And only one point behind, giving the bronze to Tech with Streets Of Bakersfield.

I don't want to be too negative, although this isn't really for me, it's good to see rarely posted genres getting their week in the spotlight. Glad that some of you enjoyed it.

Thanks to all who nominated and/or voted for a genre that doesn't have too many fans round here. I don't think of Dwight as solely country as he has drawn much inspiration from the rock genre - Elvis, the Big O, the Everlys can all be heard in his music. I've been lucky enough to see him twice and he is a joy to behold. It's good to see he is still touring extensively in the US - just wish he'd make it back here.
