I read The Last House Guest

I thought it was publishing this month, but I think it was pushed back to June, so I am way ahead on this one!
my review

(omg i am so behind, i have like five reviews left to write from previous months... *hides*)

(omg i am so behind, i have like five reviews left to write from previous months... *hides*)"
I'm in the same situation, Alysa. I have 6 that were already published and 3 being published this month. Some of my previously published books are really old too. Unfortunately, I don't read fast enough to read them all this month, but I hope to do some catching up over the summer.

Right now I technically have 42 books on my NG shelf, but 5 of them I've read already and just haven't submitted any reviews, and 1 of them I've just started reading this morning.
Out of the remaining 36:
1 is from 2015
4 are from 2016
3 are from 2017
10 are from 2018
18 are from 2019, with 4 of these having moved out of "current titles"
So, I just keep chipping slowly away at both ends of the age spectrum. Just recently, I still had 3 books from 2015 but managed to read 2 of them.
I realize that submitting reviews of NEW books is much more valuable to NetGalley, as that is of course what NetGalley is primarily for! But I just can't be like "Oh well, too late, I guess I won't bother." I plan to slowly read them ALL, or at least read enough of the less appealing ones to DNF in good faith.

Just think, you only have one left to go before your oldest is 2016 instead of 2015. Finishing that one book will make you feel so much better. lol I have the same thing with 2017, but who knows when I'll get to that one.
I'm really trying not to request more books until I get caught up with the ones I have, but I've received a couple of widgets lately and I have such a hard time ignoring those.
Edit: I have to admit that in your original post I thought you meant you had 5 books in total that you had to read and review from previous months, not that you had already read and just need to review. oops

That's a good point about finishing that one lingering 2015 title. You made me feel better, thank you Kristie!
What's weird about that book is that it's #3 in a trilogy. I won the first vol in a Goodreads Giveaway, and then when #3 popped up on NG, I realized that I had somehow missed #2. I bought a copy on Kindle, and then ended up postponing THAT for a while... which led to #3 sitting for another year, and so on. I actually really liked those other installments a lot; but they're all long and require a big time commitment.
ETA: normally, the monthly NG challenge helps A LOT, but only when I'm focusing exclusively on it. Recently with other concurrent challenges... not so much. ;D

I've gotten books in series before where I read the first an had others to read before I could get to the NetGalley one too. Those do tend to sit for a bit.
I completely understand about other challenges. I just wrapped one up too and April wasn't a good NetGalley month for me. I'm hoping May will be better, but so far....well...

Edited:

I think it'll turn out to be one of those books that I postpone due to irrational worry that it'll be boring, but end up really liking. I usually have a few of those each year.

So far for 2019, I have stayed ahead of the publishing dates. I have 2 from 2018 and my goal is to get those off by the end of the year.
I have a smaller number than most of you on my to read, so that helps.

I'm struggling with

my review
The bad news is I am still so far behind on reviewing that I haven't updated my ratios for this month OR the end of last month... and that I've added two books this month and only read one so far and it's the 10th already. ;D

Sounds like a good goal!!

I fell behind last month and added WAY too many new titles (although most aren't being published for months). My goal this month is to keep up with the ones being published in May and then try to work on the ones published in April. I'm also going to try my hardest to resist all new titles (other than from my favorite authors or those that are getting incredible buzz).

NEW Auto-Approvals: Kensington, Nourish, Harlequin Carina

Here are two more (neither of them are new books at this point though...):

(my review)
And I just started reading another NG of a book that was just published in April. Yay me. :)

I would like that!

A psychological thriller with lots of lies and deceptions. It was good. It started off strong and was hard to put down.
I want to try to get in one more before the end of the month. I have one on my list that publishes on 6/1 and I want to keep ahead of the dates!

I should finish my second for the month in the next day or two. I have three that publish this month and I seem to be just a little slow to review, maybe a couple weeks past publishing. I'm hoping to at least get one of them done on time.

The book was an excellent wrap up to the series. There was a little paranormal vision kind of thing that I could have done without, but it was a small part of the story.

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge
Duration: Monthly
How to Participate:
The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.
Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.
1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is
2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)
3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio
Then start a new post for the next month!
Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?
Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!
Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!
The next Review Weekend is set for May 18/19
**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!
