I'm doing this early this month as I'm going to be busy trying to finish up my university course and I want to keep this group running.

It's time to nominate your choice for our June 2019 group fiction read - please use this thread to nominate.

Nominations start today and will close on 10th May 2019 or when we filled the poll with six books.

During this time anybody can either nominate or second a book. The 6 books with the most second votes at the end of the 7 day nomination period will go into the poll. Each person can either nominate one book or second one book. There are no limits to the number of seconds a book can receive.

The poll will then run until the 17th May 2019 and the winner will be announced shortly after. I hope this will leave everybody with enough time to obtain the chosen book.

Please only nominate, second or vote for a book you will read with the group if it should win. Please also check that your chosen nomination hasn't been a group read in the past. You can do this by looking at the group bookshelf, contact one of the moderators or post on 'Ask the Moderators' thread

If you have any questions on the nominations process please contact me, use the 'Ask the Moderators' thread or post on here and we will be happy to help.

I have no idea to be honest, they just seemed to disappear and I can't contact them.

PattyMacDotComma I'll nominate Educated, the amazing and popular memoir by Tara Westover.
Educated by Tara Westover

Richard Buro (rwburo1outlookcom) | 21 comments I will proudly second Educated by Tara Westover. As a retired State of Texas Educational Professional with multiple ceretifications, this work has a good deal of resonance with me.

I cannot accept this nomination, as it's non-fiction. Sorry but keep it in mind for when the nonfiction group read comes back.

I'll second this.

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 57 comments I'd like to nominate Final Girls Final Girls by Riley Sager by Riley Sager. Thanks for all your hard work, Alannah! xox --Jen from Quebec :0)

message 19: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) Uhm, on second thought, My Cousin Rachel was published in 1951 so it should qualify for our classic group read and not our "regular" fiction group read, right?

TRUE! Back to the drawing board (or the book list)!

message 21: by PattyMacDotComma (new)

PattyMacDotComma How about The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey? It was published in 2012 (so is readily available) and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. It's a delightful read, not a heavy-duty literary tome, and lots of people loved it.
The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey

[I think this will be my last shot at nominating! I can't see it on the AAB bookshelf, so I hope it qualifies. :) ]

Yes, it would be for our classic group read. I think it's been nominated a few times but has never made it. I think that will my next nomination.

Marina (sonnenbarke) Most of the books I want to read seem to be classics according to the group's definition... However, I will try to nominate one myself - how about Leviathan by Paul Auster, first published in 1992?

No worries, I find the bookshelf isn't very good at the moment because a lot of our group reads aren't on it. I find the discussion search bar a lot easier. It's something I need to sort out.

It never occurred to me to search that way, sorry! I do see now that it was a readalong back then. Are readalong books considered group reads for nomination purposes?
