Have a great reading month!

@ Veronica: I put Force of Nature on my list before I even finished The Dry, so I hope it lives up to my expectations :) And I've had the St. Mary's series on my list since I first heard about it -- and now there are 10 books in the series, so I'm wayyyy behind *sigh*

One Tequila (Althea Rose #1), by Tricia O'Malley, finished 5/3 ★★★
I picked this one up because I needed a book with a pink cover for one challenge, an O title for another, and something from my Kindle library to fill in a gap. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either.
Twelve Drummers Drumming (Father Christmas #1), by C.C. Benison, finished 5/4/19 ★★★.5
This is my F2F book group's choice for May, so I decided to get it out of the way early. There were an awful lot of characters, some with similar names, which made it hard to keep track of who's who, but in the end, I liked it.
The biggest negative was that I got the eaudiobook from a local library system, and it skipped over a couple of chapters near the end of the book. Fortunately, I was able to get the ebook from another library system and read the missing chapters that way.
Grace Cries Uncle (Manor House #6), by Julie Hyzy, finished 5/5 ★★★★
Julie Hyzy is one of my favorite cozy authors, and I'm sad that both of her cozy series have ended. I'm trying to spread out the remaining books, because I don't want them to end! I really liked this book, and appreciate the reminder that not all siblings get along as well as my brother and I do :)

Bloodlines (Dog Lovers #5), by Susan Conant, finished 5/7 ★★★
It's been years since I read this series, so I decided to read this one to help decide if I want to continue it. Trouble is, I found the book only so-so, which doesn't help with my decision.
A Dark and Stormy Murder (Writer's Apprentice #1), by Julia Buckley, finished 5/8 ★★★.5
I've had this in Mt. TBR for awhile now and was motivated to pick it up when the author was chosen to be featured in one of my GR groups. Except for one annoying author habit, I really liked the book and hope to get to the next book soon.
Sweet Tea and Secrets (Book Tea #2), by Joy Avon, finished 5/10 ★★★.5
I liked this book a bit better than the first of the series, and look forward to the next. I like the way the amateur sleuth doesn't do stupid things on her own and instead works *with the local police, although I find it hard to believe that any police department, even that in a small town, would welcome the help of a civilian.
Free Fall (John Ceepak #8), by Chris Grabenstein, finished 5/12 ★★★★
I have really liked this series, and I'm sad to say that this book is the last one. While I'm glad to finish a series, I'm going to miss John and Danny.
Dance Hall of the Dead (Leaphorn & Chee #2), by Tony Hillerman, finished 5/13 ★★★★
Another series I've put off continuing for far too long. I think I like Joe Leaphorn even better than Kate Shugak, and that's saying something.
A Curious Beginning (Veronica Speedwell #1), by Deanna Raybourn, finished 5/15 ★★★★
I chose this book to meet a task requirement for a new-to-me author whose initials fit a specific phrase, and I'm glad I did. It took awhile to get into the story, but once I did, I didn't want to put it down.
Dying for Devil's Food (Cupcake Bakery #11), by Jenn McKinlay, finished 5/17 ★★★★
This is one of my favorite cozy series, by one of my favorite cozy authors. One of her series has ended, so I hope this one continues for quite some time!
