A conversation with Manajit Ghoshal, author of The Journey
1. Is writing your hobby or something you would like to take up full time? It is an hobby. I don’t think I have the patience to be a writer. 2. Where or when did you receive the inspiration to write? Writing a novel was on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. When I realised that my life’s journey might get over any day, I thought I have to finish my bucket list. 3. How did you come up with the title of your book? When I visualised the story of my book as being one spread over a century, over three continents and threading through life changing events like the second world war, the IRA movement, the 9/11 attacks and the Mumbai attacks, the name ‘The Journey’ came floating to me. 4. What is the most important aspect to keep in mind while writing a book? To maintain your sanity. Because the characters you create are living in your mind and you are living in the mind of your characters. So in the process, sometimes the real world looks strange .
