Americans' Favorite Poems discussion

The first thing I learned from this book was to not forget your beginnings. Basically remember where you came from. I learned this from The Emigrant Irish by Eavan Boland on page 27. The next thing I learned was to always keep your eyes up. Look forward because if you look away from the road you might miss your turn. I Know a Man by Robert Creeley, page 62, helped me find this out. The last thing I learned was that only you can create/destroy your path. I learned this through Prospective Immigrants Please Note by Adrienne Rich, page 230.
