Jenny | 2346 comments Should we just get it over with and call ourselves "trouble"?

message 6: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 520 comments LOL, well it does fit ...

message 7: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Any thoughts on how we should approach this? Randomly choose a stream? Actually choose a stream? I am fine either way. My team did a B stream for Uno.

message 8: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I'm here!

and I'll second "trouble" ;-P

message 9: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I was B stream in UNO, but happy to be random :)

message 10: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments and of course, the aim of the game this time is to see how many of the streams we can finish...

message 11: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments This starts on the 20th? The first two days I will be still houseguest laden, so I may not be a reading crazed frenzy type player until the 22nd. But, I will most likely make up for it later.

If we get to the "man reclining on bed" or whatever it is prompt, I did find one of those that wasn't a 400 page romance, but a pretty good fairytale/shifter/MM story. Just in case.

message 12: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments I think I read somewhere it was required for Cat to do task 14A1 since it's her favorite prompt.

message 13: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Ha. Ha. Ha.

My sides? Splitting

;-P

message 14: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments I kind of just assume you started stock piling brown covers for challenges so you'd be prepared. Right next to the yellow covers for UNO :)

message 15: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments To be fair, you're not entirely wrong!

message 16: by Paula (new)

Paula Reyes Wagner (paurw) | 784 comments Hola!!
Unlike Jenny I have the 20 and 21 free from work, I won't have to work those days as the 21st is a holiday here in Chile =), and the 20 is what we call a sandwich day, because it's a monday previous to a holiday day haha. So I hope to advance in my book those days.

I like Trouble as team name.
About the Stream, we did B stream too, I suppose we can start with that one.

message 17: by UNO Pixie, Our UNO Helper (new)

UNO Pixie | 1839 comments Your spreadsheet link is now in message 2 :)

message 18: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments yay! so any books we start now can be used for this challenge :)

did we have a plan for how we are going about this? starting with one of the B streams? someone want to toss a coin and pick?

message 19: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I thought I had a brown book, but TinEye is reading it as green :(

For We Are Many (Bobiverse, #2) by Dennis E. Taylor

I was really okay kidding about you reading the brown book task. Someone else really should show you some team member love and read it for you if you all do that stream. You've been through enough with brown covers.

message 21: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Judith, you do realise that all my grumbling about them mean that I typically DON'T have to read brown covers! During UNO itself I found myself reading one, which I'd hoped might be grey, but no such luck. I think that was the first brown cover I'd read in an age! :)

message 22: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Morning all. Cat, the first book of that series is brown. And really fun.

Shall we pick a stream or just read a few to see how they fit, and go from there?

message 23: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments FWIW, I will definitely be reading The Wolf in the Whale (544p) and This Thing of Darkness (626p) by 6 June, so we could do one of the page count streams.

by the by, I've not worked out: do we have to complete a stream before we get points for the next, or could we have two partials going and get points for both (though obvs not the completion bonus)?

message 24: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments It looks like we have to go in order. So we have to finish A or B before we get points for A1 or A1a, etc.

We should choose which letter we are going to start with.

message 25: by Cat (last edited May 20, 2019 07:07AM) (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I don't know about letter, but I'm not a fan of the B1 streams.

I've actually given them code names, now, on our sheet, which might (who knows!) be helpful.

so I'd say that I don't want to tackle Ide or Jay.

Hen looks OK? or Eel (They're A stream)

message 26: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Let's do Eel, as you are planning some longer books already.

message 27: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Do we want to add a book reporting/recording tab to our sheet? to catch options?

I mean, I do, but I am a fan of spreadsheets...

Anyway, the books I started today (waiting till after the countdown, never fear!) are:
A Long Day in Lychford - 144pages; characters Judith, Autumn, Lizzie, Stuart / author Paul Cornell. Specific Eel tasks would be 6 & 15 plus spell out options

For We Are Many - 311pages; characters Bob, Milo, Cranston (& others tbc) / author Dennis Taylor. Specific Eel tasks would be 7 & 19 plus spell out options

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments oh, Jenny, I took your name in vain....
name dropped you in an NBRC BOM nomination thread
feeling a bit guilty now

message 29: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments I like the idea of a reporting tab. Moving stuff around will be helpful.

Should we claim spaces, or list how books fit on the reporting tab, and assign one of us to fill out the official one?

Brain-meltngly weird? That sounds about right.
I just finished the sequel to that book, and it is just as good.

Created a tab.

I think a mix? certainly, we'll need some of the specific ones to be claimed, like the "phone on cover" / "police officer on cover" etc, but leave the flexible ones (spell out) unclaimed so we can flex books in?

I'll check on my options for the 1- 5A tasks when I get home

message 32: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Thanks Cat.
I will add books later as well.

message 33: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Ok, I am guest-free now, so I can get back to reading. I will be posting some books and reading a bunch this weekend.

Cat, if you can leak some info, is there going to be a NBRC team challenge in June or July? I am trying to figure out what other challenges to try this summer, but if there is one from NBRC, then I will keep it light.
If you can't say, I understand.

message 34: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments We're hoping to, yes, but are working out the logistics and mod resources.

message 35: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments So, we've a couple of books read/planned that fill some specific tasks, shall we put them on the board?

Specifically:
Pink cover - Jenny
Full person on cover - Cat

I also thought that we'd use Paula's Obsidio for the 450+ pages

message 36: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Fill in some slots! Go ahead! It's Thursday, so what other madcap hijinks will rival that action today? !!!!!

Also, I just found a book with Telephone in the title, so I will add that to our list shortly.

coffee. coffee. need coffee.

message 37: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Cat wrote: "We're hoping to, yes, but are working out the logistics and mod resources."

I will keep the other challenges to a reasonable amount then. Thanks.

message 38: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Great minds! I've just started reading one with Call in the title.

Any chance yours has a phone on the cover too? :)

Coffee: I'm low on that today, but that's probably for the best as I was bouncing yesterday evening, I made my last coffee that strong!

message 39: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Yup, mine has a phone on the cover! We are good.

message 40: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments YAAAAASSSSSSS! :)

message 41: by Paula (new)

Paula Reyes Wagner (paurw) | 784 comments Hello!
I'm advancing pretty fast on Obsidio =), I hope to finish that one an another this weekend, I'll check what I can fill

I really enjoyed that series, and flew through it :) I listened to the audio, which was so good, and who doesn't love AIDAN?!

I'm on hols next week, but it's a busy one with niblings rather than a lazy one, so reading levels will be lower than normal :( but I've been listening to books at work to distract from the very noisy building site behind me - the drilling is SO annoying!

message 43: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Construction must be in the air. A 5 story office building across from my shop is being converted into condos. Lots of annoying sounds coming from there everyday. It's amazing how I get used to traffic noise, but the drills and hydraulic hammers make me cringe.

message 44: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments I have found books to cover "Heart on cover", "Red writing on cover", and I am looking for a "Kissing on cover book". I think we will probably finish the first stream soon. Should we choose the next one we will tackle?

message 45: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Yep! You make the call :)

Oh... I'm reading Iron and Magic (The Iron Covenant, #1) by Ilona Andrews
One of those two will work for sexy on cover, you think?

message 46: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Let's do Dog. Teehee.

Cat, there is a brown cover in Dog. You make the call- want it? Give that task to someone else?

Also, do we need to redo the 1A through 7A tasks every time we start a new stream?

message 47: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Cat wrote: "Yep! You make the call :)

I have sexy man on cover book, so use the woman for that one?

message 48: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments I just looked at the claimed but not used books, and knowing that these can be tweaked, we need

Text begins with H
M
A
251-300
Love at first sight.

message 49: by Paula (last edited May 25, 2019 12:48PM) (new)

Paula Reyes Wagner (paurw) | 784 comments I finished Obsidio and used it for the 450+pages.

Now I'm reading a book that works for couple kissing on cover, heart on cover, love on text.

message 50: by Paula (new)

Paula Reyes Wagner (paurw) | 784 comments I lieeeed they're almost kissing u.u, but it will work for heart on cover 😬
