YouKneeK | 1412 comments I’m just passing on some news I read about over on LibraryThing.

FictFact has been closed due to the issue described on their web site. I know some GR members use it to track series. You can download a csv file of your data until July 1.

Faith | 386 comments Amazon is gradually forcing every book tracking site out of business. Maybe they view them as competitors to GR, which does a really lousy job of tracking series and new and upcoming books.

Chris | 1130 comments Thanks for the news. I downloaded the CSV file, but I'm not sure whether I'll do anything with it. Data aren't everything; the interface was my reason for using the site.

Boo to Amazon for squelching innovation instead of improving the capabilities of its own properties.

message 6: by Karin (new)

Karin There are alternatives overseas, but I haven't been using the one I signed up for because I found it easier to stick with one place and most of my Shelfari groups ended up being successful over here.

Unless we know what the "minor infraction" was, I wouldn't be so sure it was "squelching innovation" on Amazon's part. One entity's minor infraction is another entity's major infraction.

Ereaderiq ran into a similar problem, yet they've managed to keep running through user donations.

Paul Perry (pezski) | 292 comments Damn, that was a really useful, well run website.

Kateb | 959 comments is there nothing we can do, they say their appeal was ignored. I find it really useful to keep track of my various series
