Hi, Kev. I don't usually read horror, but there is one young writer that I would recommend in the genre. His name is David Kummer. I've read three of his books. Until We Burn, She and She waits. All very good IMHO. Especially considering he wrote them in High School. Definitely a name to watch out for.

message 20: by Claudia (new)

Claudia VERONICA Giudici (claudiavernicagiudicisbooks) | 6 comments ¡Hola! mi nombre es Claudia y quiero contarles que escribir para mí es una manera de expresarme. Me permite crear mundos fantásticos y mundos reales.
Claudia.

Mary E. Jung Greetings to all!
Thank you for bringing me into the group. I'm published author Mary E Jung of Reign of Ashes. I'm pleased to meet everyone. I write epic fantasy romance. My book is on Goodreads to peek at. You can also follow me on Amazon, Instagram, and Facebook. Reign of Ashes is a magical adventure waiting to happen. I love mystical creatures and world building. I spend most of my time on imagery and lyrical prose. There's a HEA for the romantics and psychologically disturbed villains for the darker readers. I like to delve into both the darkness and light when writing. Both the villains and heroes are equally likeable. Hope you enjoy it as much as I loved writing it. Happy Reading!

message 25: by Ann (new)

Ann Murphy (gaiamethod) | 2 comments Hi everyone,
Post-Easter, and post-lockdown and keeping busy! Just published my first book and working on the second... and third...

My first book is:Homecoming: A Wizard's Story It's a metaphysical-fiction book about a wizard, who does not like his job, and his adopted dragon, Scarlet. It is a self-help/coming-of-age/portal-fantasy novel.

It has taken me YEARS to write but I finally finished it.

Publishing on Amazon was an initiation! And like all initiations, it opened the door to other avenues of creative expression. As soon as it uploaded, I realised it wasn't as difficult as I imagined. So, I can finish the ones I am still working on, now that I understand the process.

During this time, I have also been hatching chicks and making soap, reading and listening to music and learning how to podcast. Walking in nature, connecting to the ancestors and, oh, doing Soul/past-life-readings, which I love.

I'd like to connect with other fantasy/spiritual journey novelists who are interested in the Soul Journey and Mother Earth.

Have a great weekend!

Phillipa Warden | 6 comments Hi,
I'm Phillipa, author of Rupert's Snowman. It's based on a true story after my son refused to leave his snowman behind on a hill snd we had to bring him home! I'm waiting for the proof of my next book, Emma's Sunflower and have been busy developing children's bookish activities some related to my books, some not. My books use a dyslexic friendly font and Grace Ward, the illustrator is dyslexic. That said, its a book for all children 2-5. Empathy is at the heart of the book and you can access resources to nurture empathy skills with your little ones by visiting bit.ly/childrensfriendships I'm really keen to know what your favourite children's picture books are!

Bernard Burgess | 2 comments I'm a retired Air Force officer and pilot and I've been writing fictional mysteries for about 3 & 1/2 years. My series, The Bert and Norah Mysteries, is very unique. My middle-age retired private investigation couple are very much in love, and devoted to their new P.I. business. In their tool bag are Norah's psychic abilities and a coywolf tracking animal. So my stories are not just mysteries to keep a reader guessing, but are also a story about love and the love and training of a domesticated wild animal, and the psychic touches of the paranormal.

message 33: by Mark (new)

Mark | 2 comments Hi, all. I just published my first book, which I co-authored with my father (who sadly isn't here to celebrate the accomplishment, because he passed away last year from Covid). So the emotions are all over the place!

I'm also new to Goodreads, and trying to learn this space as well as figure out how to market the book, get reviews, etc., while also get back up to speed in my new day-job (and after over a year of unemployment during the pandemic, that's harder than it sounds).

Funny, I thought the hard part would be writing the book, but then came all the time working with designers on cover and layout, editors on proofing and copyediting, and now it seems like the work has only just begun!

The book is non-fiction, and it seems there are fewer "opportunities" than for all the numerous fiction genres -- fewer lists, fewer groups, fewer people interested in reading/reviewing (not just here but in general). Is that true, or just my perception?

Any words of advice or suggestions from other non-fiction authors about how to reach non-fiction readers would be appreciated. Or from non-fiction readers. Details about the book can be found on my (newly-created) author's page -- it's the only book there so won't be hard to find (I'd describe it, but I did in another chat on this board, and don't think I'm allowed to post multiple times on the same board).

Thanks!
