Kate S | 6459 comments 50 years ago, we landed on the moon. Let's celebrate by reading a book shelved as space by at least 30 members.

Please post any questions/thoughts/recommendations for task 20.9 in this thread.

Megan (gentlyread) | 358 comments A Memory Called Empire shows "Space>Space Opera 60 users" on its main page, but the top shelves page shows only 14 users for "space" itself. Would this be able to qualify for the task?

Sorry for the delayed response, Megan. Yes, sufficient shelvings that appear Space>Space Opera will work for this task.

Deedee | 2281 comments I don't normally ask for exceptions, but I will this one time:
Newly published American Moonshot: John F. Kennedy and the Great Space Race has genre space with 22 users. In time I'm confident it will have >30 users for genre space, but it's not there yet. Any possibility it can be used to fit this task?

We don't make a lot of exceptions, but sometimes it makes sense. In this case, it appears this title will hit the 30 user threshold soon. We will accept this title for 20.9 this season.

Rebekah (bekalynn) I just downloaded a free audiobook titled The Man Who Knew The Way to the Moon . Problem is it is an Audible Original and has no physical book edition. The book is 3 hours 30 minutes. Is there a rule of thumb for number of pages per hour?

Yes. According to our FAQ, an audio book must be at least 3 hours.

I will note that even if we add up all of the possible shelvings that include "space", it is fewer than 10 people, so this might not make the threshold of 30 anytime soon.

Whoops! Didn’t notice the shelving requirement. Oh well! Still got a free book! (Smile)

Deedee | 2281 comments As of October 4, 2019 -- and possibly before now -- American Moonshot: John F. Kennedy and the Great Space Race has 30 users listing the genre as SPACE. Yeah!
